Nasty's Notes III (From Camp)

Your Donald Lee assesment is right on. TIGHT END is a HUGE problem for this team right now. We have Randy and nobody else. Donald Lee can't play. He can't block without getting called for holding. He makes a ton of mental mistakes. He is average when he runs routes and needs to make a catch. Tight End is a huge problem area I wouldn't be shocked to see Miami go out and pick up a TE that is dropped from another team in a few weeks.

Nasty, great job can you add Travis and Health to your list along with Spangan and Zach

Oh... I forgot! Chris Atkins started puking his brains out after covering Chambers on a fly route. It was funny.

Also... McMichael look great today! Unlike earlier in camp... the past couple of practices he has been really involved. He had some awesome catches. Had a bobbled one handed catch in the endzone. He also had a nice catch jumping over a defender for a touchdown. If those plays happen durin the season... I would be going crazy!!

Oh... and Damion MacIntosh got injured... dont know if it was serious... It was either his ankle or knee...

The problem with Donald Lee is that he was drafted to be 100% a blocking tight end. His catching ability was a plus. He caught about 22 passes his senior year. The guy was the best blocking tight end when he came out. In the old offense he was the type of player they needed. Then all of a sudden he showed flashes of being able to actually catch the ball. This confused many fans to believe that is the reason why he was on the team, to be a true back up for Randy, which is not the case. He was brought in to be the blocking tight end. Pretty much took over for Hunter Goodwin who was brought in for the same reason. In the offense that exists for the Dolphins today, it does not look like Donald Lee is the kind of player for it. He belongs in a running offense like the Steelers.

Problem is since he has been in the NFL, when he blocks he gets called for holding it seemsl ike 50% of the time. He might have been a good blocker in college but on the NFL level he is an average blocker at best.

Excellent summation of Donald Lee. Many draft prognosticators rated him the absolute best blocking TE in the draft that year. Somehow his holding must have been overlooked in college or in the time since joining the Dolphins, his technique has gotten way too sloppy, or a little of both.

Freaking magnificent! You're a healthy addition to the board, man. Great at painting a picture for those (moi) who couldn't attend.

Zach seems fine. He is a very smart LB. Looks pretty comfortable and fluid out there already

Minor didnt have as many flashy large runs as I saw earlier this week... but still looked good. Gordon is looking fine as well. Minor has been having a better camp... but I think Gordon had a better day.

Gilmore hasnt been to impressive. I have been more impressed with Kendall Newson and Josh Davis...

Roundtree is back... He has looked alright. I nothing amazing though. I know he got burned by Boston once on Wed. But looks like he is still adjusting to the new system. Look for him to improve later in camp...
