I was watching NFL Total Access today and during an interview with Nate Burleson, it was mentioned that Culpepper takes pride in his knowledge of the game and has been known to boast about his wonderlic score.

I thought that was interesting.

Does anyone know his score?

Lienart's 35 is something to boast about. Maybe Culpepper thinks a 21 suggests he's an intelligent guy? I wouldn't say Pep is as intelligent as Ricky or Harrington, however, I do believe his athletic ability will overcome his lack of intelligence.

 not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. did they (ricky and harrington) actually do good on the test? cause one smokes the maui wowie on his off time and one couldn't hack it with his old team. not very intelligent signs to me.

As long as he knows how to bust up a Cover 2, I am ok with whatever he scored..

I don't think that is the equivalent to a REAL IQ test. It doesn't really tell how intelligent a player is.

I don't think it's fair to Daunte to talk about how intelligent or unintelligent he is compared to other people when you don't have anything concrete to base that on...

Intelligence isn't the best way to judge QB's anyways, look at Danny. If a QB scored a perfect score that doesn't mean he will play well, or have the balls to look at rushing D-linemen and pull the trigger on the right route. There's more to it than that...

People is always searching for a way to compare the skills of individuals, but how intelligent is a guy is very hard to tell. Unless you could use a regular IQ test as mesurement guide, you'll be in a very unclear task.
The problem is that having high IQ scores won't mean that smart choices will be taking. Regular IQ test points that the most intelligent person in the world is a housewife and Bill Gates have normal scores, but in business we all know that this housewife just cleans and handles a very small amount of money, while Gates handles more money than several nations.
So IQ tests will allow to tell that a guy is able to resolve some kind of problems, but can't evaluate is this person will serve as smart leader for a professional sport team.

I couldn't agree more, especially after watching Dan Marino: Heart of A Champion for the millionth time last night. Bill Walsh, Ron Jaworski, and a few others mentioned that he was never a student of the game but just saw the open man and --thanks to that lightning release-- got it there in a hurry. Marino's wonderlic was a 14 if I'm not mistaken, but that didn't keep him out of the hall of fame.
I remember reading an article about Daunte's improvement two seasons ago in Sports Illustrated. It was the week 1 win against Dallas (who some thought would win the super bowl) and he had a few very successful audibles against that top-ranked defense. One I recall is where he recognized the coverage and audibled to a late dump-off to the running back.... Who then took it like 60 yards because the defense was trying to cover the deep ball.

I know JH got a 32 and from what I remember Rick was pretty high also. Just because someone smokes funny cigarettes doesn't mean they are stupid or less intelligent. If you listen to the way Ricky speaks, many players (Vick, Moss, Chad Johnson, and the English language master Vince "straight from the ghetto" Young) would be looked at in different lights if they spoke as well as Ricky does. As for Harrington, he's a very bright guy that plays the piano in his free time and clearly has demonstrated a high level of intelligence.

If you saw "Heart of a Champion", you heard Jaworski confirm that Danny wasn't a typical "student of the game". Dan couln't give you all the x's and o's, couldn't break down analytically coverage schemes or teach it to someone, he just SAW it, he cut thorugh it with his uncanny vision and lightning reflex action. No, Dan wasn't an "intellectual" (the wonderlich scores hint at this; Ricky is somewhat of an "intellectual" or "cerebral" type), but it didn't matter. These minute analyses of the length of the hypotenuse etc were of no use to Dan.
I loved the story of Dan getting bored at an offensive meeting: "Who cares about running plays, just let me throw it!" Or some such comment.
