National Championship: Ohio State vs. Florida

I heard on the local sports radio show today that they're both likely to be suspended.

Why...?...they did the right thing.

There was a spagetti dinner, two players from Akron went with thier parents, it was a surprise fundraiser to send the parents to the National Championship game put on by friends....

The athletes and the parents of the athletes said "Hey, this could be trouble"....they called the Ohio State coach and told them the situation that arose. Coach said "you should leave" and they left.

Thats how a player IS SUPPOSED to deal with these things, should they arise.

Thats like saying that sombody went up to Reggie Nelson and said "Reg....heard about your Mom....hope this helps" and tried to hand him $1000.00 Then Reggie refuses and tells his coach about it. And then Reggie gets suspended.

Beanie and Pittman didn't know it was a fundraiser, they didn't help raise any money, and when they realized it could be trouble they called a coach and left.

Argue with him, not me. I am just telling you what I heard.

NCAA, OSU talk over dinner

Columbus- A spokesman said Tuesday that an NCAA official has contacted Ohio State regarding a fund-raising dinner attended by Buckeyes running backs Antonio Pittman and Chris Wells over the weekend.
Bob Williams of the NCAA said a decision regarding possible violations such as these can sometimes be turned around in as quickly as one day and that the fact that the NCAA offices are closed this week should not slow down the process.
Though Williams could speak only on what he has learned through the media, he said it appears as though no serious violations were committed.
"It doesn't seem to be major," he said. "If it's determined that money did not go to either family, then one would deduce that there was no extra benefit."
An Ohio State spokesman did not return phone calls, but Williams said news of a violation, if one occurred, would be released through Ohio State.

Thanks for the enjoyable reading!! As a diehard U of Michigan fan, this thread has certainly been entertaining. (I'll keep my predictions to myself.) I'll be checking back late on January 8th to see who has what to say.

Wow, in Beano Cook's ESPN Chat, he actually picked the Gators to win the NC. I think that is the first national guy I have seen pick them!
SportsNation Beano Cook: Time for the picks. Again, 11-3 this season so I am happy, I would like to end on a good note. LSU 27, Notre Dame 24. BCS game: Florida 31, Ohio State 24. Happy New Year and see you next Wednesday at 3 pm ET as we wrap up the bowls.
Of course he did say earlier that he usually does not do well in predicting the Bowls... :( LOL
