National media, ex-Fins address Miami Dolphins’ woes

Bottom line, it all starts with the QB. He is the face of the franchise. Who are the Pats without Brady? Does anyone really think that Welker would be anything more than a solid slot receiver on any other team. Could Danny Woodhead really get significant playing time on any other team? For that matter, as good as Gronkowski is, would his numbers be anywhere close to what they are this yr without Brady. Ditto for Hernandez.

So Alex Smith is the face of the San Francisco Franchise? It is Harbough...the head coach.
All of this one size fits all is just nonsense. Each team has to find what works for them, and not copy what is working somewhere else. In the case of the fins, having the head coach have over sight over Ireland would have been a non issue. 99% of the time, they would have been in agreement. We lost Fisher over the 1% chance that they might disagree at some point. I tell you, these EGOS are what is killing this franchise.
They all need to check their egos at their front doors.

The 49'ers havent won anything yet. He is the exception, not the rule. A good QB (more than any other position) can make up for deficiencies in other areas. All the teams with luster in the NFL have franchise QB's. Luster is obtained after establishing successive winning seasons

“It’s over for them being a marquee franchise,” Manny Fernandez, a standout on the Dolphins’ glory teams of the early 1970s, said Friday night. “The only thing marquee about them is South Beach. How many mistakes have they made? How many bad decisions? It just goes on and on. And it’s ridiculous not to give a coach final say over the personnel he’s responsible for winning with.”

But...but....but....but we're the Dolphins!
