hes young and jes hasnt had his chance to shine

even if he doesnt get dropped i say we trade someone for him
how is a player on another team 'our future'... :shakeno:

Not for nothing but is he smart enough to even learn a playbook and read defenses??? I think that's where his mental mistakes are now and he's trying to run on pure athletic talent alone. He's a project at best and for all those smart people who keep posting the "why don't we trade for him" I wish you would have paid better attention during the Speilman era and over the last ten drafts. Stop trading for people that are not worth your picks. The Saint's would be foolish to hang onto four qbs and the three ahead of him are showing more promise. The only way I think they hold onto him is to convert him to a receiver, Randel El style...

Oh and I know Spielman wasn't there the last ten, but his decisions get me carried away... :shakeno:

I dont believe they will cut him
So the Saints would carry 4 QBs? Right now, I understand that he's #4 on the depth chart. Although not unheard of, but it is very rare for teams to keep more than 3 QBs on their roster. I don't think that he could make it on their practice squad either, somebody would jump on him first.

Why trade for Mcpherson when you can draft whitehurst or Omar Jacobs next year

exactly my point

he was a major steal in the draft

mark my words "mcpherson > alex smith

No I think they will cut Bowman or Kingsbury, with the latter being the most likely candidate.

Perhaps he was a steal, we don't know that yet...but our problem is THIS season, not the next few...I like McPh as well. I heard on this board that Saban was thinking of taking him just before the Sts did...fine if he's interested, if the Saints cut him, then sign him to the PS or even as the #3...(I do think he is better than Berlin or Sage)...but that still won't help us this year...if Gus is our starter...it'll be a loooong year..

Also, what exactly has Smith done ?? Worked his way to #2 on a team that may be worse than ours ???

Did not the Patriots start their impressive run by keeping 4 quaterbacks on the roster (number 4 being Tom Brady). It maybe that the Saints won't keep 4 but there is probably room to keep a decent project on the phins roster.

The thing with the Saints is that Haslett and anyone else connected to that team has their butt on the line so they need a qb who knows the system and could step ion if something happenned to Brooks. If something happenned to Brooks and Pcpherson had to step in there season might be over because he doesnt know the playbook nearly as well as Kingsbury. Kingsbury has been here for a couple fo years now

Sorry but Kingsbury came here late last season and spent the end of the year on the practice squad. If I were the Dolphins I'd take a look at Kingsbury when he's released, Haslett compared his ability and leadership quality to Jake Delhomme, who is a very capable quarterback when given protections, a strong running game and defense, the Dolphins should have two of the three there. I think he can be a better than average quarterback and eventual starter.

I completely disagree with Tureo, because if Aaron Brooks goes down for more than a few weeks the season the Saints could turn to McPherson immediately, why? He's athletic and talented, he's raw the same thing Aaron Brooks was when he came from Green Bay in 2000. Brooks backed up Jeff Blake and when Blake went down it was the athletic and raw nature of just playing football with his instincts that kept the Saints in the playoff race and eventually to their first playoff win. Where the Saints had gone wrong with Brooks after was when they saddled him in the system and not allowing him to use his athletic ability, telling him to stay in the pocket and make reads, not using his raw talent to get the team down the field. This year that is expected to change as New Orleans has given the quarterback more power within the huddle to make adjustments and make plays. Adrian McPherson could find himself in the same situation this season with the Saints, yes with the Saints...New Orleans didn't draft him for no reason they will keep McPherson and if forced by a long term injury to Brooks don't be surprised if McPherson learns the NFL on the fly. Brooks however has been one of the NFL's most durable quarterbacks and has yet to miss a start in his Saints career due to injury, he's been injured and played, he's never sat out, so the Saints will remain comfortable with McPherson on this team. As for the comment about Haslett it is true, he's against the fence this year, but he'd have a better chance on winning games with an Aaron Brooks like quarterback in McPherson than anyone else on the Saints roster.

Guys concentrate on Davey, or possibly Kingbury or Bouman, let the McPherson dream die, it is not happening.

i really dont think if he cant cut it on the saints team he could cut it here i think there is to much hype for a mobile qb cause of m.vick, m.vick is an athlete but is has avg passing skills i havent seen much of mcpherson but i've seen enough to know that a pocket qb with mobility is so much better cause they are so much smarter i dread the day the dolphins draft a running qb like vick or maybe its just cause marino spoiled me on the classic drop back passer style. players like p.manning and tom brady excellent pocket presence i have never liked the idea of my qb taking off with the ball unless its a last resort even then its scary its the most important position in the game and he shouldnt be out there running trhough the secondary cause he will get lit up.other than s.young that style of qb play has never led any team to a sb cause when you have a qb that thinks to much about taking off and running it diminishes his passing skills and thats how it will always be
