Need to get rid of Caleb next year

You know its bad when u worry about can your kicker make the pat. The guy is a train wreck. Every kick he takes your heart stops and you wonder can he make this.

I miss carpenter at least he could hit the 20-49 range kicks unlike the gator elf.

You are mad cuz he missed a 52 yarder in the snow?

I think he is doing alright for a rookie.

That one plus all of the others. He has attempted 33 and had made 25 of them. That is not good enough.

Meh... THe Majority of his misses are from 50+ And has a really strong leg. Hopefully he will get better with his deep accuracy next year. He started off really good this season. And usually does a good job kicking touchbacks.

I agree with whoever said sign an undrafted rookie for comp. Give him another year and see what he can do.

That side of Heinz Field is impossible to kick too. 1/9 from 50 yards. Caleb had no chance.

Technically only half are from 50+. He has 8 misses...4 are from 50+. Take away the 7 attempts from 50+ and he's 22/26 for 84.6%...amazingly similar to Carp who was 22/27 his last year here including 2/5 from 50+. So take away Carp's 50+ attempts and he's 20/22 for 90.9% but then everyone looks better when you don't have the 50+ attempts.

If its 4th and reasonable I always want them to go for it because I know he is going to miss it.

damn dudes, anybody around y'all must need to keep a bag packed in case they stumble or 'fall short' in life. dude that cracked the record yesterday, had some humbling beginnings

we should have never even attempted the 52 yarder yesterday...one of the dumbest decisions philbins made...that said hes missed a 36yarder and 41 yarder already and kicked a 50 yarder 30 yards wide left half way there even...he definitely needs some camp comp next year and ifor one will not have any faith in him on any kick right now...doesn't mean he can't figure it out next year and be very good but he's been anything but dependable the last 8 weeks or so...

i don't think he'sdone costing this o points either

Funny how memories don't follow reality at times

Carp missed 18 field goals from the distances you mentioned above
plus another 10 field goals missed from 50+ during his time as a Dolphin

i have mixed feelings on sturgis.....him being a rookie should render him a pass for the season thus far

but next year if any of this continues please release him...i wish him well tho

I am sorry but this guy is awful, he has no confidence and constantly misses every game. Hopefully we will be able to find a different kicker for next year, he is just not panned for the NFL it seems. What are your opinions on him?

He hasn't had the best year but he also hasn't really lost a game for Miami like Carpenter did. The game vs. Cincy was extended b/c of his kick. If he plays the same way next year then we might have a problem.

Don't cut him. Cutting a guy isn't always the best solution though it's suggested to almost every player on this team and on this site at least a few times a year.

He's rookie who has been a bit speratic. He was 11 for 11 to start the year. His rookie season has been pretty similar to Greg Zuerlein's. I have confidence he will straighten it out next year now that he has experience.

Maybe he is just tired from his work at the north pole. The elf started ****ting the bed the closer we got to christmas. St. Nic must be working him to hard.

8 missed kicks is a little more than growing pains. He ranks 28th in the league in terms of FG percentage (75.8) while Carpenter is 6th (92.6).
But he hasnt missed a makeable kick that cost a game yet, something Carp did all the time

Agreed, he started the season perfect. He was our leading scorer in 2 of the first 3 wins. Then came the the missed prayer kick against ravens.
I'm not sure how much you can count that against him. At best it forces OT. He then missed a long kick against buffalo in 2nd quarter. and 2 kicks against NE. We needed to score TD's in the second half against NE to win so his missed didn't lose that game. He missed one against cincy but came back and made big kick that enabled OT victory and once again was leading scorer. Was perfect and leading scorer in victory over chargers. He missed a long kick vs panther but once again it didn't cost us the game. He missed a kick against jets to open the game but came back and made 3 and was once again leading scorer in victory. Missed a long one against steelers but made clutch kick to force Pitt to score TD.

So there is your 8 misses in a nutshell. One possible OT missed but 5 of 7 wins he is leading scorer and big part of us winning game.

Percentage is lower than carpenter but his contribution to win loss record is better.
