Welker made some great plays for us. Boston...still waiting.

Welker made one great play. I am starting to like Welker, and let's see how things pan out after tonight. Boston is Boston, if he stays healthy.

I love it how people were saying Welker probably won't even make it as a returner when he got into the league last year. Now, people are debating whether or not he will be the #3 or #4 receiver. That kid just keeps progressing. He suprises someone every day.

Didn't he lead the nation in receptions at Texas Tech or was that just in returns?

Leads in receptions and yards at Tech (257/3,069). Leads the NCAA in punt returns for TD's (8).

Well i think its high time for people to stop underestimating the players from the big 12, Welker is the 2nd best receiver on the team as far as I am concerned. wait until you see cb Daniel Mclemore he is a patrick surtan typ who would make my favorite defensive player madison look like jamar fletcher. if you guys think welker is good you should d'juan Woods this guy makes booker and boston look like thompson and if you dont buy it watch osu ve florida atlantic on sept 11 if that is still the date and your jokers willsee what real receivers look like.

Wayne Chrebet never scared anybody either.

Who's scary isn't as important as who's effective. Hey, let people not be afraid of Welker. If the lack of respect helps him gash defenses, great!! :) The important thing is, both players are locks to make the final roster.

The thing about Welker is, he's quick and takes short steps. That allows him to get in and out of his breaks quickly, which is ideal for a slot player. Dedric Ward played a similar role with the Jets before he was forced into the starting lineup.

Hopefully Welker will continue to develop as a WR.

Hmmm. I never thought about that. Good point. It will be interesting to see if, in addition to Welker, someone else returns punts and kicks tonight. I know Welker has value as our returner, but if he really shows us something in the slot, I wonder if they will phase him out of the return business. As a side note: I guess Darius Thompson has dropped (pun intended) off the depth chart.

So Boston won't be playing against the first string, I like Welker and all, but I want to see Boston play the first string, what the hell.

WOW, if you follow Darlingtons link to Schads blog on ESPN, then click on Dolphins info, it brings you to Finheaven.

Its a symbiotic relationship. We love to read his columns and he links to the best source for Dolphin news,Finheaven .:D

Even Welker says returns are his specialty. I hope they don't phase him out of return duties. He has the motor, toughness, and enurance to do both.

Someone else was talking about his speed. He might not have the fastes 40 times, but there is something to notice about his speed. On returns, when he breaks away, he never seems to slow down. Other guys with quick bursts of speed seem to catch up to him, but fall back again rather quickly. If anything, his speed is constant which gives him the ability to outrun a lot of guys. He never seems to slow down when he is running the length of the field.

agree...a lil bit of stokley n dwight in him

....why? Because they are all white? I think Welker is a bit more like a Deion Branch than anybody else that pops into mind. Look at where his asscent started and compare the two. I don't think Stokely and him have ANYTHING in common....

Didn't anyone notice the Pitt game? I thought it was pretty obvious but it seems no one has noticed it until this blog and Muck's post, but, Welker was running first team last week in the game (if you count the 3rd WR as a "starter" since some sets require it). Welker played 3rd WR in the slot up until mid 2nd quarter last game.

Welker ahead of Boston? :shakeno: Don't get me wrong I think Welker has a LOT of heart and can make some great plays on ALL sides of the ball and will be a GREAT player (returner) for us this year...but...a better receiver than Boston. Not Yet.

I look at it this way...picture yourself as a DB looking across the line. What scares you more the "freak" Boston or Welker? Just MHO. :)

Maybe that is what we WANT teams to think. Like "hey? Who the hell is this little white dude out here? Psshhhh I got an easy assignme...wha? Hey get back here man! Awww shoot he is taking it the distance...I better run to the far end of the sideline."

The Dolphins had another little white guy who was much slower than Welker and who everyone underestimated. All he did was catch everything thrown his way.He was clutch and I think Welker will be clutch too.

BTW guess his name.
