yup. i worked on a film with him, and all he wanted to talk about was 'noles football.

His highlights make him seem like he'd be more cut out to play WR.
I think just about all movies from that era were cheesy, but I still like a lot of them

Thing that jumps out at you there is his lower body strength and balance. I realize, yeah, it's a highlight video, but on a lot of those plays I was pretty amazed that he was able to keep his feet or just keep churning yards with guys draped on his back.

Burt Reynold's stand-in/stunt man Hal Needham jumped a powerboat in this movie...he must have travelled over 100 feet. It's on YouTube. Just amazing...if you haven't seen it. But getting back to Hoskins, he is somebody who can find the end zone.I think just about all movies from that era were cheesy, but I still like a lot of them

Yeah but it was coded. His version of "check with me" was "HEY, check with me". Then the QB was supposed to yell "PASS PASS" on passing plays, and "RUN RUN" on running plays. It was so complicated that some of the DCs around the league considered bringing in Sherlock Holmes to try and figure it out.
And people wondered why our QB got sacked 58 times...

Totally different body type, though. Keller is built much more like a traditional tight end (as is Hernandez). Also Keller has elite speed and agility.
Colleges keep producing guys like Hoskins but so far most teams really haven't figured out how to use them. Orson Charles, DJ Williams and Niles Paul come to mind. All of them have that same running back/FB build and were productive in college but all have found it difficult to get on the field, much less be productive. Clay is one of the first to stick and find a niche. Maybe we figured something out, or maybe Clay is just special.

He looks like a big receiver to me, where Clay looks more like a back that can catch. Natural route runner, great hands, very athletic. He is more like Ebron, who is a little undersized but a matchup problem for DB's. This guy could be the steal of the draft.

Pros: Athletic move tight end with very good hands to snatch ball away from his body. One cardinal rule of route running for a tight end is the ability to get open, and Holkins is skilled at it. Feature receiver in Herd's offense, he lines up in slot and can hand pluck the ball out of the air. Runs several linebacker-control routes. Good concentration catching ball in crowd. Can slip tackler's grasp. Screen-off blocker.
Cons: Size and frame. Not a roll-your-hips, smash mouth blocker.
