New Monday Night Football crew nnounced

I hope the Dolphins never ever ever ever ever EVER play on Monday night again. Tirico's overexcitement and Canadianism is bad enough on basketball and college football, Theismann has always been a tool, and Kornheiser is the worst fit for a football booth (even after taking into account Dennis Miller). Is he going to pick winners with silly masks? In-game polls on viewers' favorite types of cheese?

Not to be too much of a Kornheiser apologist, but you have to realize, the schtick you reference is perfectly appropriate to the PTI format. But he's also a damn fine sportswriter, and his insights will be keen, along the lines of Cosell.

Now if you weren't a Cosell fan, there's not a lot I can say.

The only thing Howard Cosell and Tony Kornheiser have in common is their religious ancestry.

tirico is easily one of the finest play-by-play men in all of sports. he'll do a great job. theismann is awful, but maybe he'll play off well with tirico. kornheiser is...i don't know. i like him from PTI, but i don't know how that will translate to the booth. not like it matters, if football is on, i'm watching it.

Not true. Both Kornheiser and Cosell:

· graduated with a degree in English
· were self-admitted agitators
· will have started their MNF careers in their 50s
· gained popularity on catch-all sports radio programs
· blurred the lines between sports and entertainment (Cosell through his involvement with “Battle of the Network Stars†and Kornheiser with his discussions of pop culture on “PTIâ€Â)
· there is anecdotal evidence to suggest both leaned toward the left politically.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I kind of enjoyed Dennis Miller. If he would have just toned down his Big Word Wednesday vocabulary a bit I think more people would have warmed up to him.

The only bad news is I still can't stand Theisman. Tirico, and Kornholler are fine, I just don't like theisman.

I just don't believe this. Kornheiser, Theismann are god awful, and Mike Tirico should stick to college games. I really am disappointed with this.

With Kornheiser to slap Theisman around (and he will), it could make for an entertaining show. I just think Tirico is so mundane.

Comparing Kornhole favorably to Cosell is an insult to the late, great Howard Cosell. Shame on you.

Im with the doc, i like Tony. Theismans nothing short of an idiot and i dont know a whole lot about the other guy.

Sub-par crew id say.

i dont like tirico for football. i like tony, but im not sure how mich insight he can bring. theisman can be ok in the right circumstance

Well at least Tirico doesn't sound like he has to catch his breath after every single word that comes out of his mouth.
