New Times article insulting

No he didn't, he's wrong....

You win the tickets BEFORE Wayne ever sees the logo.....It's presented to Wayne for exactly the reason that you implied.....

The majority of the people who submit entries want the tickets. I'd be willing to bet money on that.

It's presented to Wayne because the New Times is comprised of a bunch of whiny schmoes who think they can change stuff like this because, goshdarnit, aqua and orange sooooo clash with everything!

Thanks. Should have known not to trust someone else's factual representation.

Loyalty!

The thing about the Dolphins logo is it stands apart from the rest of those in the league. While so many have updated and gone for a meaner, more "extreme look," the Phins logo has stayed relatively the same with just a touch up.

I find it to be a awesome logo, and hell, Dolphins are the most intelligent, loyal creatures you could find. Fierce as hell too. Cute and charming to boot. Who doesn't like a creature that grins naturally?

:D

relatively the same?

I dunno.. That looks pretty different to me..

I had no idea the Swashbuckler was winking. That's even more ...um, "happy" than I remember (not that there is anything wrong with that). It was not long after they changed, that Tampa Bay started kicking @ss!!

"So enough is enough. As a public service, New Times is stepping forward to put it in Wayne Huizenga's face: Your team must redo the dolphin -- and if you won't do it, we will.

To that end we've invited some of South Florida's top graphic-design firms, advertising agencies, and artists to come up with new designs for the Dolphins. But we think all Dolfans should have a say in this, so we're soliciting everyone to reimagine the team's logo. We'll print the most interesting entries in our issue of September 8, just days before Miami hosts Denver in the season opener. Yours might even make the cover. Because we're doing Huizenga such a big favor, it's only right that he should provide a big incentive. So we're asking him directly -- via certified mail -- to kick in a pair of season tickets to the top three designs."

If you think the Miami New Times is going to effect a change, you're nuts. If you think people don't want the tickets that are supposedly going to be proffered, you're crazy.

If I were willing to take the time to do this, it would be for the tix, not for the logo. And I think a lot of people feel that way.

The Dolphins uniforms are the best in the league in my humble opinion. The worst would have to be the Cleveland Browns. Here's how I would rank them.

Best
1 Miami
2 Jacksonville
3 Tampa Bay (current)
4 Dallas
5 San Diego
6 New England (current - old ones were among the worst)

Worst
1 Cleveland
2 Green Bay
3 New York Jets
4 Pittburgh (don't they have enough money for logos on both sides)
5.Chicago (could do a lot more w/Bears)
6.Buffalo (the red buffalo always seemed strange to me, otherwise it's okay)

Same concept. And, if you notice, that Dolphin looks mighty pissed off. :D

But Agua said "what is the purpose of the contest" , not "why are people entering it?"

The purpose of the contest is so the the New Times can present a predesigned logo to wayne in hopes that he'll use that logo.

I would add the Cardinals and the Colts... They both have extremely boring uniforms.

A contest is a contest only if there are contestants. And it's likely that most of the contestants are competing for the tix.

Without the contestants, they have nothing. They have nothing anyways. It's not going to change because some local paper that no one had ever read anything from before this decided that the logo was dumb.

The Cards just updated theirs...they look like the Falcons now.

Skape you are all for taking the helmet off the logo right? And you're pretty darn good with graphical design. Why don't edit the helmet out of the logo for us...and post it on here for the rest of us to have a look see?

I guarantee that having your logo on the side of the Miami Dolphins helmet is the real reason that most contestants will enter. If they weren't giving away season tickets, do you think no one would enter? Seriously, if you're enetring just for the tickets, you've lost already because there are people with a lot more passion about their artwork who are going to take this a he// of a lot more seriously than somebody who just wants free tickets. Believe that.

BTW, the purpose of the contest is still to present Wayne an idea to change the logo.....you're confusing the purpose with the reward.

So what? The majority of the entries will be for the tickets. Most contests are only as good as the rewards. Anyone who thinks their design is really going to be on the helmet is sadly mistaken. Huizenga won't even take this paper seriously.
