no no...this logo looks like the old Jets logo with the wing over the Jets name...that's the last thing we need is them saying that we want to look like their old style

Your going to tell me that the new Pats logo does not resemble a patriotic super hero. Super heros are cartoons, and even if you disagree with that, there is no way you can tell me that it is consistent with anything. It resembles nothing real, but yet it's a person. Just like a person in a cartoon would.

There are only two, maybe three logos that are not cartoonish (lettered logos not included). The Redskins logo, and the Cardinal and possibly the Panther.

If there are some comparisons it would be that the lion and the buffalo looks similar in theme. But guess what? The Raven, the Bronco, and the Dolphin look similar in theme.

How does the Bronco or the Raven resemble the Dolphin? Both the Bronco and Raven are only heads...

Listen, the reason the Dolphin looks like a cartoon is because it has a silly helmet on it, like the old logos of the 1930s that tried to tie in football with the logo.. It is simply not needed, and silly looking.. and the only reason you defend it so virulently is because of "tradition".. Had the Dolphin never had a helmet to begin with, you would defend that too..

To the logo and colors, I think they're cool. I wouldn't be opposed to another logo. But I disagree with the article's author that the current on is a happy, silly looking fish.

I'm not opposed to change. I just don't think certain aspects are as dire as the author makes them out to be.

The logo and the uniforms are OK, but the "fight song" blows.

OK...this guy looks pretty mean and could easily wear a helmet (not my picture). It IS a Dolphin (the fish, not the mammal). Of course, he's not a very smart fish, so that would be a problem...and then there's the colors...

And yes, I'm completely joking about using this. My point is that I haven't seen any truly "outside the box" ideas yet.

I'm not necessarily in favor of a new logo, but if a new one does get approved I think it should be a little more than changing the face of the Dolphin (although that does look pretty nice).

The Bronco and Raven pictures are tweaked to give a tougher look. The Raven also has a B on it like the Miami logo has an M. The Bills, and Lions logo sort of look like the animal it's supposed to, but the team colors are in them, just like the Dolphin.

Almost everyone logo can be seen as, as you put it, cartoonish!

Now it's your turn to listen. :)

Not until 1948 was the first logo, the Rams horns, painted on a pro leather helmet. Soon after, practically every college, pro and high school team put their logos and mascots on their helmets.

The little helmet, to YOU is silly, and just because you believe it, does not make it so. It's only your opinion, and I highly doubt that many totally agree with you. I surely don't agree.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with tradition. As a matter of fact it's crazy to keep trying to erase great traditions. That's my opinion. Ask the Packers fans if they want their logo changed. One of the oldest in the NFL. I bet they balk at the idea!

Your trying to erase something that's been part of the team since it began. Helmet or not, most of your artwork on the matter is a total different look, and that I'm totally against. I'm not saying they're ugly, but they dont belong as the official logo IMO.

I never got into this thread until someone asked why people downed the thought of change. He said it would HELP the organization. :shakeno: I was getting a kick out of the artwork until that point.

As many posts and threads you've written in about this subject, I've never said "hey stop that". I'm fine with dealing with it, but just be sure that I'll speak up on tradition. It's in my blood. ;)

Hey, I think the Ravens logo is pretty ugly too.. but at least they just have a B instead of trying to put a helmet on the Raven.. That would look quite dumb..

The helmet on the Dolphin just doesnt fit, and I guaratnee if I were to poll NON-Dolphin fans, they would agree.. I like the colors, I even like the Sunburst.. I have no problem with tradition, but I am certainly not beholden to it.. I actually feel alot of problems in our world occur when people are completely beholden to tradition regardless if something might be a positive or neccesary change or not.. Taking a silly helmet off the Dolphin doesnt ERASE tradition, or history or our wonderful accomplishments.. Like has been noted SEVERAL times, the logo has already undergone change.. It didnt erase tradition then, and it wont in the future... It would be naive to believe the uniforms and logo wont go through change in the future.. Even the most TRADITIONAL teams have had tweaks to their unis and logo design..

ya but i think the dolphin should be going through the D kinda like the old broncos logo when they had a horse going through it

First, let me just say, i'm happy with the current logo.. BUT.. the "D" really caught my eye, I actually like that a lot. It's simple but nice looking.

This one looks nice to, but it seems to suggest a complete colors/uniform change, because sky blue or whatever you want to call that(not aqua) is clearly not near our current color. It doesn't look bad, but I don't know about the drastic change.

btw, the finheaven logo looks nice and all, but it doesn't belong on the teams helmet.
 
the dolphin is fine. it has had a helmet since the founding by robbie.

WHY CHANGE IT????????
