next hc may be a surprise

If they hire Ryan, that means we'd all likely be subjected to more pics of him on the beach with no shirt on.

I'll say this for Gruden he's good at taking a team with talent to the next level. (Oak , Tampa)
But his talent evaluation is iffy and after a couple years everyone hates his guts and wants him gone..

I would like to have Cowher. He has the toughness, respect, and track record.
Rob Ryan is just waiting for Jason Garret to get the axe...he is not going anywhere, especially to the AFC east.
Shula and Buddy Ryan used to hate each other(probably still do), I cannot see a Ryan coaching this team.
Gruden / Tressel?

Would a Michigan guy hire an Ohio state coach?

This.

Gruden is a good coach but you don't want him making the draft decisions.

To get this kind of coach you would have to hire him away from his current gig because if he's like your description he isn't unemployed. Besides the Cowher's and Gruden's.

True, well, in this description it looks like Martz (employed), Cowher, and Gruden.

Have to remember Tampa gave up a couple first rounds picks to get Gruden..... coming in from TV we wouldnt have that overhead.
Cowher built a rep... but it took his ownership standing behind him and having faith for a number (greater than 4 ) of years to win the superbowl..

Didn't Don Shula come from OHIO? Oh yeah..that's right...went to John Carroll University in Cleveland, played for the Cleveland under Paul Brown...hey maybe the Dolphins should hire an Ohio guy who knows football.

Once upon a time ...

Joe Robbie went out & hired who was considered a top football coach in the league ... Baltimore Colt's Don Shula & paid him a bucket of money to jump from a Champ to a Chump team.

Now there's a freeway named after Shula & a Robbie statue in front of a self-built stadium.

I think Ross needs to do a careful study of GMs & Coaches ... and get the best of each who will give us longevity. No knee jerk decisions or band-aides.

And the cowboys hated buddy ryan too, more so than shula with all that bounty bowl business. And look, Rob is working for the cowboys now. TBH I can see Rob taking the Cheifs job once Haley is gone, and judging from the state of the chiefs, his seat is as hot as the surface of the sun. I am sure competing in a weak AFC west is more appealing than competing with Belichick/Brady and his brother who is already well established in the division. In fact those are the two reasons why I think Gruden or Cowher do not want to come to Miami, both could have expressed interest last season during the Harbaugh debacle where Sparano looked like he was on his way out but neither coach stepped in. Cowher seems dead set on that new york Giant job and coughlin may not last after this season. In regards to Gruden, I honestly believe if the Colts organization has the wits to fire caldwell, that Gruden will go to the colts to coach manning in his last seasons. Miami's best bet for a new coach is to promote Nolan. But then again Ross seems to want flash over the sensible choice.. maybe he can get ditka back into coaching?

i dont want gruden and cohwer doesnt want this job.

bill cowher done said that he wanted to coach again and he said that he wanted to either coach in new york with the giants or miami there was one other team but i belive if not mistaken miami was his first
