NFL.com 2021 QB index Rankings

It’s nice that Tua has a good win %, but those wins haven’t led us anywhere. It’s like Blake Bortles’ stats in Jacksonville when he threw for 4.5k yards and 30+ TDs, nice production, but a lot of it came in garbage time.

Burrow’s win % should continue to go up. End of the day he went to the Super Bowl in his second full season and has shown to date that he can carry an offense on his back. To date Tua hasn’t done that. Hopefully with an improved offense under McDaniel he can do that, otherwise he’ll be in the Mac Jones game manager category.

Great example of why winning is a team stat and shouldn't be attributed to the QB alone. Every QB on that list I'd take before Tua. They are unquestionably better at playing football, even if Tua isn't awful anyone saying he's better than those QB is insane.

Edit: Except maybe Mac. They are about the same QB.

This thread has people comparing Tua to Allen, Brees and Montana. Tua is a bottom 3rd QB. He's average at best and that's all he's gonna be. I get banned from threads for saying tua isn't good, well people who are delusional and compare him to hall of famers should be banned too.

Tell me what did Brees do better than Tua by season two? What about Montana, if you are old enough to recall?
I don't believe they even played in their first year. If so, it wasnt very often. Year 3 for Montana, which was really his first full year as the starter, he won the super bowl. In year 3 for Brees, which I think was his 2nd year as the starter, he put up better numbers than tua. Tua has given no indication that he's gonna be anymore than he has been. I guess time will tell who's right

Not to mention it's a bad argument.

Let's say Tom Brady had put up **** numbers his first three years in a fantasy world, then become what he is.

That doesn't mean every player with a similar statline who sucks for 3 years has the ceiling of Tom Brady.

It's just horrible logic.

Good point. Tua is just as good as Allen
I didn't say Tua was just as good as Allen, you did. My comparison to that stat is all you hear about Tua is, all he throws are 2 yard passes and you always hear that Allen always throws it deep with that big strong arm of his. And even thought I'm not comparing them as a whole. I am comparing their stats in that category as they are exactly the same. It's ok, don't be offended again that someone is saying something good about the QB for the team we root for.

It's just that people pull these meaningless, easily skewed stats vs far superior QB's to make themselves feel better about tua. I don't care If they share thst same stat. I can watch both of them and my eyes tell me that Allen is superior to tua in every way. Stats be damned

Where did jimmy g rank? He played in conference champoinship?
It only matters that tua keeps improving. He is 3 0 against patriots. When He improves his rangkang next year He will be 5 0 against patriots. 2 0 against hebert and 1 0 against burrow. He will beat down steelers too

I understand what your saying but like I said the only thing I'm talking about is how crazy Tua has this cloud over his head of just being a short passer and Allen has this reputation for being this strong arm deep passer when in reality they both averaged the exact same yards per attempt. That stat doesn't lie.

I do hope that Tua is as good as Allen one day but I am not comparing them as Tua being as good as Allen at this point.

Montana was brought along slowly and was only inserted in favorable situations with a set script of plays that they practiced. He was good in those situations. It was actually very similar to what you saw from Tua at the beginning of games. Brees started his second year. He was nowhere near as accurate as Tua at that point and he struggled to read defenses. His processing speed was slower and he was throwing a ton of INTs. Neither of those guys were better than Tua at the point, but had high ceilings and went on to great careers.

In fact, I recall having almost the exact same conversation with somebody on another board when I wanted Miami to sign Brees. I believed that Brees had a top 5 QB ceiling and a couple of people said something along the lines "who comes up with this ****" or words to that effect. At that point Brees had finally had that good season but got injured. They called him a "midget QB with a weak arm who was likely to get injured". They claimed he was a best a bottom half QB starter.

None of this a guarantee that Tua will be great, but it does show that dismissing a QB with these traits early in their career is baseless. And calling a reasonable analysis and accurate comparison "****" is equally baseless.
