NFL Draft Day 2 best available

If there is an elite player at another position of need available at 48 I dont want to reach for an OL just for the sake of addressing the position.

There will be good IOL available at 98. Thats not considered a premium position and players will slide.
There will be better DB/DL available than IOL at 98. That is close to 100% certain given where the class is deep and where it is shallow. There were already 3 IOL drafted in the 1st round; kind of hard to make the old “not a premium position” argument. There are 65 picks before our 3rd pick and only 5-8 OT/OG with day 2 grades left.

I’m not advocating we “reach” for OL at 48 (although there are still 2-3 guys left worth that pick). I’m just making the point if we go DB like Amos at 48 there is an exceptionally high chance Eichenberg is our week 1 starting LG.

Personally speaking I’d rather throw Bonner, Duck and Kohou to the wolves and go OL/DL with our next 2 picks. We can’t fill all our needs either way; might as well start building the roster inside -> out first.

Will Grier revert back to his old ways and draft CB in round 2?

Or, will Grier continue building the lines to win the LOS and pick an OG to replace Eichenberg in round 2?

I have:

Watts makes sense, he's a Notre Damer like coach Weaver and plays a position Miami needs help at.

Amos is my dream pick in round two, but unfortunately I'm not sure he'll drop to #48.

Alfred Collins is a guy Miami had in for a visit to team headquarters and appears to be someone they like. I'd not be opposed to double dipping at DT. Collins is known for his abilities against the run, and is considered to be amongst the best in this draft class at stopping the run. I'm just not sure Miami would double dip so soon. Although a Collins/Grant would be unbelievably hard to run against.

Porter is a kid who blew up the combine. Question is, can he be an early contributor?
Amos seems to good to be true to last until 48.

If we take another DT it would have to be more of a pass rushing DT like Sanders. Collins would be too repetitive of a pick to Grant.

I also like Ersery since I am not sold on Paul but maybe Ersery could kick inside.

Ersery is a guy who could slide over to LG. I've seen him play a few times, and has some experience at LG. A massive human being.

Mbow is a potential early contributor. He's a OT convert candidate who has the traits to potentially excell as an OG. The question becomes. How long before he become servicably ready to play a new position?

As for Revel, Will Johnson and Morrison; I'd stay away until later in the draft. Too many unanswered questions about their health. The issue is, will they ever return to form? Morrisons hip could be worrisome? Johnson appears to be heavily questionable investment. Revel appears to be ready to start to play. But is he a scheme fit and how long before he's fully recovered?

Luther Burden is my pound for pound “**** it send it in” pick if he makes it to 48, which I highly doubt. But I’m a BPA kinda guy.

My other more realistic targets at 48 -

OL: Marcus Mbow, Jonah Savaiinaea, Tate Ratledge, Wyatt Milum
DB: Trey Amos, Benjamin Morrison, Az Thomas, Xavier Watts, Andrew Mukuba, Kevin Winston Jr.

Wild card: WR Jayden Higgins, TE Mason Taylor

I think the gamble on Will Johnson happens very early tonight. Emmanwori will probably go quickly as will Jared Wilson. So I didn’t include them.

If we leave OL until the third round, then Miles Frazier and Dylan Fairchild should be in play. Nohl Williams, Jacob Parrish, Zah Frazier for CBs. Ransom is probably my favorite DB in that range.

I wonder if Amos makes it to #48. He's a sleeper and a guy that could potentially contribute day 1.
Can't afford to draft someone who can "potentially contribute day 1".

They need to draft a day 1 starter, anything less, considering the number of holes on the roster and lack of depth, is sub standard.

If we trade Ramsey which its looking like we will do. Who are going to be our starting DB's next year?

Cam Smith and Storm Duck? Ugh our defense will get torched.

I think DB is a much more important position than OG. I still maintain there will be some good OG's available at 98 who are better than Liam and Borom. Also Scherff is still available in Free Agency.

Don’t love watt especially with the way the boards falling at secondary. Rather Amos, Emmanworri or take a chances on revel/johnson if they fall that far.

Can’t double dip at DT this early, it’s a deep draft either get bpa at another position.

Need a damn guard but don’t love any in the second beside the Savaieuriednjdeohejeeuejejedjsqiushdbeue guy

From the list of who is still available, Ersery is the only OL I would consider taking at 48.

If Amos is there I would take him though.

CB is not a more important position in a vacuum that OG. The Dolphins have the same hole at OG as they have at CB.

OG isn’t sexy like CB, but it’s a more important position in football

Yeah just don’t love the guards besides big Jonah. Looking bpa at 48 then trading up from 98. Know people want to hold onto picks but screwed it.

Ersery looked like a beast in the few snaps I saw of him at LG during Senior Bowl practices, I think he could be dominant at OG.
