NFL DRAFT & RUMORS MEGATHREAD

So I assume the Grier family is full of prodigies who got to where they are based on their own God given merit? You ****ing with me?

You can use me if you want. I post my wants and opinions and projections every damn year about free agency, the draft, all of it. Take some time to look back and with a straight face come back and tell me Chris Grier has made better decisions than I would've made. Or better yet, use J-off and have your mind blown by next level draft competence.

In fact, I'll even start a thread for draft day. In real time we'll go through and post A. what we would do and B. what we think will happen. We'll all be on the clock and it will be out there for all to see. There are similar past threads you can reference to the same effect.
There’s a huge difference between getting lucky one year and doing a better job throwing at the dart board that is the NFL draft, and being able to be an NFL GM. To think otherwise is to really diminish what gets people to that level in a career, which is to say the highest possible level in the world in that field.

If you think this and every other NFL fan board is full of “Good Will Hunting” types who could walk by and finish GM equations consistently better than current GMs, yet are unacknowledged or unsearched for or would not be aggressively sought out by NFL teams, I highly disagree with you.
Full of them, No and not one person in this thread said a "bunch of people had this talent." You put those words in our mouths twice now in this thread. ****ing stop it!

But a select few absolutely could do a better job. Are you oblivious to the types of people that get these jobs in the NFL? They arnt hiring MIT grads and rocket scientists to be scouts and GMs, most of them are some high up executives rich spoiled brat kid, who gets hired out of college because of their parents connections with the industry like Grier did or they are washed out players who couldn't hack it at the pro level and get hired as a scout because of the connections they made playing the game.

Now you got me thinking. I believe Chris Simms would make a fine GM. 😂

I've been posting consistently since 2008 so there's plenty of stuff to throw back in my face if I'm a festering moron. I encourage it.

I'm not saying it's an easy job ... or that I could even necessarily do it at a high level. But I'm ****ing positive I'd be better than what we've been subjected to for far too long ... which leads me to believe goobers who don't qualify for the job are getting and somehow keeping said job.

Add my track record into the mix as well. You put the three of us together running a team and we would go 40-0 against the rosters Grier could put together. Stone cold serious.

It's crazy to me that people who lived through the likes of Ireland, Tannenbaum, & Grier *recently* can somehow revert back to default mode and assume the best and brightest are getting these jobs.

Your very notion that just any basement dwelling internet hack that’s never actually been a part of a football organization could be an NFL GM insults me.

There might be 1000 people in the world capable of being one of 32 NFL GMs and no poster on an NFL fan forum is one of them.
Grier has a money guy so he doesn’t have to worry about that and believe me that’s a huge part, that’s contract stuff, lawyer stuff, huge job itself.

So what exactly is he doing that is so rare ? Genuinely curious as to your thoughts?

I do absolutely believe evaluating talent is a skill and art form, so being very good at that is thee priority

He's in charge of cold weather gear.

Fans are funny... They own their team... sort of. Say "we won that game" or "we blew it" when they only watched some pro athletes play.

And they buy in so heavily that they begin to call some athletes "useless" or "trash", even though these men are SOOO much more gifted than the fans who criticize them... and after a while, they even become smarter than the professional coaches and wiser than the GMs... it's kind of sad, really.
