NFL instituting "N Word" penalty due to Bullygate?

I heard a discussion on the Zaslow Show this morning that the NFL is likely going to add a 15 yard penalty for the use of the N word on the field. This was partially brought about due to the Bullygate scandal.

I'd assume this would be in effect no matter how the word is used, so I would expect this to really hurt black players more than anything because I highly doubt a white guy has EVER used that word ON the field in the past 40 years.

It's obvious they are trying to chhange the culture so that this kind of language would also begin to be tempered in the lockerroom as well. Not sure it will work the way they envision.

No word yet on whether the Redskins will be penalized 15 yards on every down for using a racial slur as their name...

Dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. If a white guy wants to use the word around a bunch of big, angry, black guys....let him.

Private businesses implement a code of conduct that prohibits the use of vulgar language all the time. That isn't really limited by the first amendment...

then you got to worry about guys like the okla state sg making up people saying it as justification for their actions...rediculous...period
 
Wonder if this applies more to Ni**er or Ni*ga.

Then again, guess Spic, Cracker, Chink etc must also be added to the list.

Every curse word while we are at it.

No profanity on the field.
 
I see what they are trying to get at here, but this penalty/rule is ridiculous and will never happen.

I know they want to do something, but you want it to be meaningful, not just the first thing that came to mind.
I don't really think there is anything they can do penalty/rule-wise, but somebody will tell them they have to do something.
 
Roger Goodell is ruining the NFL. In about ten years the NFL will be a flag football league.
