I don't understand franchising him at all. They don't seem to want to pay both him and Chase. Of course they're going to keep Chase over him.
Maybe they are thinking about trading him and getting some draft compensation. The problem with that is that most GM's are smarter than Grier and aren't going to give up high draft capital and spend a lot of money on a player. Doing that wrecks your salary cap as we have found out with the Hill and Chubb trades.
They should just re-sign Gesiski who always seemed to have big games when Higgins missed time. They also had a promising rookie WR last year Iosivas I think was his name. They could also draft a WR in round 2 or 3.
If they can get a 2nd round pick then franchising him would make sense.

Why would the Giants make that trade? Stafford to the Giants makes no sense.
They aren't in a position to win in the next couple years anyway and thats probably all Stafford has left.
They should draft Ward or Sanders if one of them is available.
