NFL sunday ticket ONLINE

Been a DTV customer since 1998 and called last week to see if they would do a free upgrade on a HD DVR and was told no. My contract runs out 8-20-09 and I will be switching to DISH NETWORK, new customer new equipment.

and no Sunday Ticket?

Last i heard it was renewed again through 2013 ...... :boohoo:

**Make that 2014 ..... http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/print?id=4010552&type=story** Grrrr
Very happy to have them extend their contract. Yes Direct TV can be expensive, but for a Pennsylvania Dol-fan like myself, I couldn't imagine football seasons without Sunday Ticket.

Sunday Ticket is the reason we got Direct TV, and the quality of the picture is light years ahead of the cable we had before it. Plus, you get every possible station you would want. I love Direct TV and Sunday Ticket.

I can understand loving Sunday Ticket, I did also, dealing with DTV made my head spin. Have to agree with many others here, and say their customer service sucks, and it is frustrating to hear they had their contract extended.

It makes absolutely no sense to me the way the NFL does this deal. Wouldn't they make more money by letting their product be viewed by more people, with more options?

Maybe you want to order a game or two, maybe you can get a discount by only viewing your team's games? I asked if I could order a week, and the girl said sure, it was like 75 dollars or something.

Yes, unfortunately the 270 or so dollars plus the extra 100 for HD is too much for my family right now, and I feel like it is a bit over priced.

One point on your statement about the picture quality, Cable picture quality should, at this point be as good as Direct, and Dish. Cable was at a disadvatage for years because they have limited bandwidth, and the analog signal they had to send actually took up more space than the digital. This of course led to their "shaving" of the digital HD picture to fit everything in. They do not carry that analog signal anymore, so cable should be good to go.

Put me in the too expensive camp. I'm actually waiting on the install guy right now. I got DTV because of the NFL package. Just this week I learned that on top of the $300 I'd have to pay another $100 for HD. I told them no. Then I called back and tried to negotiate it. Was told no. Asked for a mgr. Was told that they recently removed the ability of mgrs to offer SF for free. I wrote an email and complained. Was told no. I did it again and threatened to cancel my install. Was told no.

Alas, I'm just not getting it. I told them they just lost $300. For what they are charging to get it in HD, I can go to a bar each week and ring up a $25 tab and come out even. Just doesn't make sense to charge so much. So I'm not paying it.

Good for you, if more people would do this, just for one year, guess what? They would find out without US, there is no Sunday Ticket, and something tells me the package would miraculously come down in price, HD would be included, and there would be different packages included.

Too many people pay it no matter what the cost, so I doubt it will ever change.

I really think that DTV is going to see a drop in NFLST subs this season.
I've cut back on a few things and while it was tough to drop the NFLST after 10 years, I can listen to the live Dolphin games that won't be on my local TV (almost half will air) on my Sprint phone.
They need to include HD in the basic price, and remove it from all that other Super Fan crap.
Or let you just subscribe to one team's games for half the price.
No matter, I bet you DTV changes the price for next year.

They definitely need to have a package where you can just order the games for one team. I only buy it to get the Dolphins games. I could care less about all the other ones...and I don't care about all the SuperFan crap. I haven't had HD, so, I've only been getting the Sunday Ticket.

It was announced at the time that the NFL resigned the exclusivity contract with Direct TV that this would be available by 2012. Next year would be awesome - If the quality was good enough I would subscribe.

"The contract extension also calls for the establishment of an online version of Sunday Ticket, similar to the existing Supercast, for non-DirecTV subscribers by 2012 as well as a "Red Zone" channel to be carried on cable and telco television systems."

wow phinMike you do your homework....lol i didnt even know that was part of the renewal agreement but sure enough we are trying to make it happen

here i was thinking we were smart enough to do it all by our ourselves lol

The reason the sunday ticket is the way it is as it is geared towards sports bars. They will pay that amount anyway because it draws in business. Selling it to private homes is just a bonus to Directv. I live in Chicago so I maybe would get to see 1 game a year. To me the $250 is worth it to me.

I use sirius to listen to most the games. I cant say that its better than watching the game, but it does a really great job of making you feel like you can see everything that is going on

Online will ONLY be available for people that can't get DTV, apartments, no sight line of the southern sky.
If you're able to get DTV, you won't be able to get the online only option.

That's perfect for me - I live in a condo where I cant get DirecTV or I would already have it.
