NFL Total Access AFC Predictions

personally the jets dont scare me...I think last week was a wake up call. after a little win streak they overlooked the bills, especially after the way we beat the pats. I expect them to be more prepared and ready for the jets. everyone knows this is do or die for the fins, I don't see them coming out flat this week like they did last week. I think you could tell from post game interviews they were embarrassed.

Let me answer some of these:

* I think the Dolphins have a lousy killer instinct. That has not changed.
* They left a **** LOAD of points and plays on the table in the 1st half vs. the Jets.
* I do not like Miami's play calling.
* I was WRONG and Kevin Coyle did a great job adjusting to the new QB.
* Simms did NOT breath life into the lifeless Jets.
* Rex DID do a great job keeping his team in the game as they were dominated, yet down only six points.

I do not back off what I said because some of it was right and others wrong.

If the Jets were lifeless, how did Rex do a good job? His job is to inject life into the team, he failed. Sure the Dolphins left points on the table in the first half, but Philbin did a great job of adjusting at halftime. That was a big reason why Miami blew away the Jets in the second half.

I thought they bent on defense enough, but were not allowing points hence keeping them in it. The second half was more excellent play from RT and the receivers...lets not forget the pass blocking either. Also, Coyle was relentless that game.

What is funny is the Jets game was like the Fins season: the first half was frustrating, chances missed. The second half was very solid play and looked like a top five team in the AFC.

Here are my picks for the year for the Fins going into each game this year...

Cleveland....Correct
Indy....Wrong
Atlanta....Wrong
New Orleans....Correct
Baltimore....Correct
Buffalo....Correct
New England....Correct
Cincinnati....Correct
Tampa....Correct (When I heard Omar say the locker room was angry and wanted to prove a point this one was easy)
San Diego.....Correct
Carolina....Correct
Jets....Correct
Steelers....Wrong
Patriots...Wrong
Bills...Correct

Make fun of me, but 11-5 is not a bad year for picks.

So we basically have won what... 4 more games than you expected? Hasn't this team proven they are performing well above your expectations?

I thought 9-7 at the start of the year, but obviously much less based on week to week match ups. Teams like Buffalo and Carolina were a lot better. That a little Jon Martin story messed things up the week of Tampa Bay too.

The Jets oddly came out firing in the first game I expect them to play it much closer to the vest this time around. I expect them to run a lot more throughout the game unless we get up and force them to throw.

well then i expect a lot of 3rd and longs for them if that is the case...and more ability for us to pressure the qb...will we get gashed by the damn screen???i'm sure...we get owned by teams every week in that cause the lbs got no clue

Real easy to answer. I said in this very thread when Pouncey was ruled OUT I backed off the idea they could win that game. If you want to count that as a STRIKE against me in picking games so be it. I could give a ****. Thanks for helping me make that point though that the Pouncey injury and replacement with Sam Brenner made me think the Fins would not win that game the day off.

Accuse me of being a lot of things, but I am not a liar or twist my takes.

It looked like a real possibility when hell was breaking loose with the line that they might not win very much, but AFTER the win against the Chargers....a quality win, it was very obvious they could over come some issues.

I think this game is as simple as :

If you expect the same ol' Dolphins we've seen for the last decade to show up, we lose.

If you think we are turning a corner, we toughen up, respond and win.

This is about changing a true intangible - the mentality of this franchise. At some point we need to break the cycle and show the mental toughness it takes to finish off not just one opponent but a season. I hope I am surprised on Sunday. I see some flashes of mental toughness in this group. But they must realize it won't just fall in their laps. Too often, the team plays up or down to it's competition. Sunday is no gimme.

I don't think anyone should faulted for not feeling positive. The dolphins haven't given us much hope the last 10 years that they can win the most important games. Hate to be negative but my gut feeling after the dust settles Sunday...

Dolphins lose
Ravens lose
Chargers win (and get the 6th seed)
Steelers win

I REALLY hope I'm wrong. Just my gut though. Making the playoffs would be awesome just for the shear fact that we've only been there once in a decade.

That is what I have said and I have been killed all day. I hope I am dead wrong.

Buffalo Bill are a better team than the Miami Dolphins

But

The Miami Dolphins are a better team than the New York Jets
