No, dave, I'll tell you what the real "sin" is..

The satisfaction with medocrity on the this board is astonishing.
Feidler is mediocre but the lineup to defend and love him is a mile long.
Wanny is mediocre but the lineup to defend and love him is a mile long.
This franchise will not get back to greatness until the fans begin to demand greatness.
With the talent on this team the last two years, it is absolutely unacceptable to miss the playoffs twice. Yet Feidler and Wanny were allowed to keep thier jobs and some of you still accept it.
Some of you need to lose the mantra that states...."Well we missed the playoffs but we won 10 games and just missed the playoffs so......"
That's good if you over-achieve with little talent and just missed the post-season. But this team under-achieved the last 2 years.
Talented teams that miss the playoffs is on the back of the coach.
So go ahead and continue to defend Wanny and see where it gets us this year.
Rant over.
I second that.....and let me go on record as demanding excellence and settling for nothing less........great post!

Joe Robby is rolling over in his grave!

Good thing he is not alive to see this.

Wannstedt stated, "It's not a sin on this team if we punt the football. I think that's difficult for a lot of people to understand. There's nothing wrong with punting the football and playing defense."

I state: with thinking like that, I KNOW why the Fins are in trouble. No, it's not a sin. But it certainly shouldn't be considered a blessing either!

That has to be the second most assinine thing he has ever said in the press.

And number one was this : "I am happy to be here today to accept the head coaching job of the Miami Dolphins". :D

Why is it belichuck can say pretty much the same thing and he is considered a genius? I have my problems with Wanny, but geez everything he says isnt wrong. Name me one coach that gives a rookie qb or first year starter free reign? They all tell young qbs not to force a ball that costs the team the game. Where does he say AJ dont ever throw the ball, the goal is to go 3 and out? You can take chances while being smart about it. It is hillarious how your hatred for Wanny blinds you. No I am not a huge Wanny fan, but I did not see anything wrong with that statement, IT IS BETTER to punt than throw a pick that gives the opposing team an easy 7 points.

The biggest problem with Wanny that I have is not that he doesn't field a good team or even that our team has been "mediocre" for his entire tenure, it is that we have had several legitimate shots at being great and we have screwed every single one of them up. Now don't get me wrong, our team has royally pissed me off the past several years and I hate being, "...almost there"! I am not by any means stating that I am satisfied with mediocrity but am saying that it even makes me more angry to know that we should have been well above mediocre several times. Heck, at least once would be nice. When was the last time that you thought the Dolphins overacheived? I can't remember either.

It seems like there is a pivotal point every year here recently where we are in the driver's seat to secure home field advantage through the playoffs but we always seem to flub something to either barely qualify for some weak wildcard BS or miss the playoff's entirely. Basically, the Dolphins suck when things matter the most. To me, that is almost entirely on the coach, or lack thereof. We have squandered more talent over the past four years than most teams see in a decade.

I would be thrilled with a 10-6 record if we had improved from 6-10 a few years ago or if I was a Bengal/Charger/Cardinal fan. However, I am a friggin' Dolphin fan and just expect a hell of a lot better than that. If we need a rebuilding year or two to reload for the Superbowl, then so be it but to chug along smiling about 9-11 wins and early playoff (if we even make it) exits while those jerks in Foxboro celebrate another Lombardi Trophy just isn't going to cut it! I am sick of having people sympathize when I say that I am a Dolphins fan and feel bad because they know that I have been through hell the past several years.

I figure that my soap box is about worn out now. Y'all let me know if I am crazy or if I have a point.

The real "sin" here is that wayne has let you sink this ship these last 4 years dave. After all your years as a head coach, after a decade of failures, you still can't see the error of your ways. Still think your 1 playoff win in 10 years is just bad luck, eh dave? Too many lobster traps that your players didn't see, right?
Not a sin to punt? technically Dave, you're right. Sometimes it's the best thing. BUT YOU DON"T MAKE IT A F---ING PHILOSOPHY; YOU DON'T MAKE IT PART OF THE F--ING GAMEPLAN!!!!!!! what NFL coach would publicily say such a thing and wear it like a badge of honour? Un-f--ing real!
Hey buddy: You need to score to win the game, get it? Miami score points. Miami score more points than Cinci. Miami Wins. Less punt = more points. More points = win. It's not that hard, Dave. It's easier than drawing up a play for a 3-WR set, so don't be scared, give it a try.

What a sad, sad excuse for a head coach. I have never lamented anything more in all my years as a fin fan then when this man was allowed to keep his job..again. watching Marino's last game is like Christman morning compared to watching and listening to Dave

  :hi5:

Ever hear that JJ has been gone for 5 years.
It's ridiclulous to keep giving that man the credit for our D...

I think we owe him credit for drafting... Zach Thomas, Surtain, Madison, and Jason Taylor.

10 wins is 10 wins.

And 10 wins isn't a sinking ship...

 How many of those 10 wins were against "GOOD" teams though? MOST (seven) of our TEN wins last year came against teams that went UNDER .380 for the entire SEASON ! ! ! :fire: :fire: :fire:

BTW we were 2-5 against the GOOD teams we played last year, and Brian Griese played QB for ONE of those two, when the DEFENSE beat Baltimore...

4 players does not make up our D.

Last time I checked 11 players are starters and another 4 or 5 come off the bench to contribute...

Yeah JJ deservers credit for drafting those that have been mentioned but those 4 aren't the olny players on our D.

C'mon guys you know you've lost this one...

Yeah but their coaches were better and actually made the offense gel some what. The problem with the line was all on DW and he should have cut them the year before. But no, he felt Ricky was gonna make the OL better and retained them. Good Job DW. When it all comes down to it, it is the coach. Put Tuna in here and I will bet we would make the playoffs. Look at what he did with Dallas last year. The thing with DW he shows no emotion its almosT like he is OK with losing and missing the playoffs.

Wanny and the Fins kicked the Cowboys' asses last year. Dallas made the playoffs because they play in the weaker conference.

What exactly has Wanny done to convince you he is so good? You defend him like he Vince Lombardi. In his tenure here he has had 2 playoffs apperances and ONE playoff win. And THAT makes you happy.
You must be giddy with excitment with the prosects for this season. Our "starting QB" is out again and one of our starting WR is out. Season is over. And it will have nothing to do with Wanny and his inability or his refusal to adjust, right?

Can't we have a single Wanny basher on this site that doesn't argue like a 12 year old? Where did I ever say he was a great coach. Where did I say I was satisfied? If you can't argue the facts, don't bother.

What has Wanny done so good? 41 wins without adequate players on offense.

You state that they have had ONLY two playoff appearances and ONLY one playoff win like it actually proves something. It doesn't.

There is the fundamental argument. Did the Dolphins have the talent to do better? You obviously think so. So, what should their records over the last 4 years have been? They went:

11-5
11-5
9-7
10-6

How many additional victories should they have had?
