No new corners needed?

Does anyone think Avon Cobourne has a shot a making the roster as a corner. I know Saban said he did really well there at the first camp. Saban reminds me of the type of coach that likes to find talent in strange places and from different positions. I also thought Roundtree's career was over from the Broken leg. I could be wrong.
Cobourne is a RB. When was he moved to corner? At about 5'7" and 205, he would be one of the shorter, stockier corners in the league. :)

Saban was trying him out during rookie MC. IMO, Cobourne will stay at CB and compete for that 5th spot.

True........ I guess, but what this does is make it REALLY REALLY REALLY tough on us if another CB goes down for even a game or two

There are always going to be quality CBs available as teams have to cut down for salary cap reasons, as well as to cut down to the final numbers before the season starts.....It is not time to panic.

I wanted to add a veteran corner before Poole went down. We need a balance of veterans and younger players. I don't think Law will be cheap unless he wants a shot at his old team twice a year. That could work.

Again, the problem now with Surtain being traded and Poole getting injured is we lack depth which will be noticeable as the season takes its toll on our players' health. We need to sign a veteran corner to a 1-year deal for cheap. We should wait for the June 1st cuts.

What CB's would possibly be available after June 1st?

Madison is a lock, Edwards is unproven as is Howard and Roundtree and Daniels is a rookie. We need some solid expeience in the depth department you you can bet if a quality veteran CB is out there after June 1 Saban will be more then interested.

Now I realize Poole being injured sucks, but it is very possible that we won't sign any other corners, unless we were planing to beforehand. As I see it, with teh drafting of Daniels, we weren't going to keep all the corners we had anyways. We would lose one somewhere. But with Poole out, we would just keep what we have. Maybe we were already planning to take one of teh db's (excluding Mitchell) from the rookie camp. I feel Bell is fast enough to fill in during dime situations if we get that thin at CB anyways. We aren't in dire starights not matter what happens with Poole's injury. No need to panic, or flip out, or make crazy suggestions(like saying trading Surtain was a bad move, because it was a good move for the future of the team). We wil be fine come the start of the season, i mean we have over 3 months until the season comes around. Poole getting hurt is not the end all, we have Saban and he will do what's best for the team.

I'm in favor of bringing in a young developemental guy in case of injury but not signing a Ty Law or anyone like that. I think we will go into camp with what we have also and if these guys can't handle it then you make a move. I think the drafting of Daniels is big because he gives you a guy that has an advantage having played in the system and won't have to spend the entire Tc learning where to lineup. He can concentrate on learning technique instead of schemes.

wow...now taking that corner late in the draft makes alot more sense now, eh??

Not everyone was thrilled with the amount of defensive players taken in the draft.

Here's how I look at it... We will be able to go on with what we have now without Poole, but I still think we'll sign another CB to have another on the Depth Chart since we've already lost two for possibly the season. (Poole and Mitchell)

Yeah, it just sucks to have to already be reaching into your spare parts bag this far before the season. Hopefully we stay healthy the rest of pre-season.
