Draft Aaron Murray.

Profit.

I actually see this happening, or Drafting McCaron in the 4th or 5th rounds
Im not opposed to it, but it sends a terrible precedence to Ryan.

I have said in a couple other threads that the New GMs job is going to be easy,
he has a healthy cap
this is a OL rich draft and you draft 3 Olinemen in top 5 picks, and the dolphin fan base is happy, and resign Grimes, this guy is THE BEST GM EVER!!!!!!!!!

nah...any gm that comes here and quits on ryan tannehill after his 2 years here is a moron...it won't happen so i won't waste time discussing/worrying about it

Gonna be 9 months of pissing and moaning about the QB on this board. Lot of people going to freak out when we don't try to trade up for Johnny Football.

IMO, the first 2 moves would be cutting Wheeler and Patterson (or at least re-structure patterson with incentives to be on the field). !st signing should be Grimes to a 4 year deal.

In reality...Tannehill is only half way through his senior season as far as time starting as a QB (3.5 years).....so I am quite happy with his development for guy sacked 58 times behind a poor O-line. At this point I would not invest a first rounder on a QB, although Johnny Football would be intriguing.

I think a GM would come in and place is stamp immediately and look at the QB position - yes our OL is horrible, but the only way to survive the first few years as a GM is to win right away - and after the millions spent last year, the proverbial "leap" next year wil be stressed. Miami will probably go after a Branden Albert and draft a few OLinemen early in the draft. But it will be interesting where this QB dilemma could potentially lead to. Could that be the tipping point of any strained relationship with Philbin? Tannehill doesn't look comfortable in the offense. The strain I referred to could lead to a firing early in the GM hiring. If you are building personnel, you must have a coach that fits.

The moves I'm talking about at QB would be a free-agent signing or trade up in the draft. Look for that #2 pick in this draft with Rams. I don't think they can rape a team like they did Washington, but save this post as probably the most practical in the weeks and months to come

MODS - Shouldn't there be a "suspension" - when threads fail this bad!

The whole premise of this thread seems wrong headed. There is no one signature move that a GM can make to represent himself. Every move he makes reflects on him. If one minute he says, I'm only interested in bringing in high character players than brings in Marshall and Davis he shows he's inconsistent. I'd much rather have a consistent vision for the team that our GM sticks to than a signature move. It's a systematic approach and an adherence to their principles that make the most successful GM's in the NFL.

Why?

Competition is good. Keeps him on his toes and makes him keep working as hard as he can. Doesn't mean he'll be replaced.

There is no reason to give up on Tannehill now. He's played well up to now. I think he can be a top 10 QB and that is enough to win a super bowl. However, I don't know if he'll ever be a hall of fame type QB. With Sherman gone I wonder if we'll continue with a west coast offense. I would imagine that we would considering Philbin's history. If he regresses next year then Philbin is likely out. That being said, I am in favor of drafting a QB no earlier than the 3rd round this year, and I would continue to draft one every year. You never know, maybe we find someone truly special.
