It was literally the most ridiculous, inexplicable series I may have ever witnessed. Unbelievable field position and a great deal of time remaining on the clock (for a good offense) and we're throwing the ball downfield trying to hit a big play when all we needed was to get into field goal range. This organization deserves every joke and punchline and every amount of ridicule and sarcasm it has thrown at it.

That one deep throw was actually a good idea considering the Browns were all in defending those 7 yards. However relying on a rookie to get separation from Haden was foolish and of course Henne's throw wasn't close.

Here's why it wasn't a good idea.........because CHAD HENNE CANNOT THROW THE DEEP BALL. His accuracy on deep passes is horrific. And once again, his ball basically was thrown out of bounds without any chance for Gates to make a play on the ball. Pathetic.

I liked the playcalling. Middle of the field on first, bad pass by Henne.. Browns were playing sooo close to the LOS and they took theyre fastest man and sent him deep.. everyone on this site keeps complaining how conservative Sparano is, well when he gets agressive, you complain too.. Henne is definitely much improved from years past, but he still blows in the red zone and in clutch situations

1st down- out to Bess; perfect playcall, gets you the opportunity for yards close to (or gaining) a first, while having the ability to stop the clock. POORLY EXECUTED
2nd down- aggressive playcall, a deep pass would won guaranteed won the game if completed. Oh, the receiver is covered? Then WTF is the QB doing wasting a down throwing the ball to a covered receiver?
I don't remember the specific play calls of the last two, but the first two were simply poorly executed by the players on the field.

Why nitpick over play calling? We're 0-3 in the AFC East. The freaking Bills(!) are 3-0. We are on the bottom looking up. The season is basically over and to say otherwise at this point is just wishful thinking. Let's just hope we can swing Luck.

Because it's a fan forum, my friend....Oh, welcome.

Because there are still some who believe that because a QB can rack up meaningless yards that it must clearly be somebody else's fault when he cannot execute in the red zone or with the game on the line, despite coaching and personnel changes.

First down playcall was pretty good. Thrown a little behind Bess, but the DB also made a good play on the ball.

Second down was aggressive but Gates had not chance of catching the ball in bounds. I agree completely but there weren't any underneath routes for Henne to checkdown to once Gates was forced out of bounds. They should have had a route underneath to provide a safety net.

Third down good playcall. Bess ran a curl at the 39 and was wide open. Columbo got beat badly and it looked like the DE got a piece of Hennes arm but in any case the throw was off. This would have gotten us into long field goal range or at least manageable 4th down.

Fourth down Henne just tried to force the ball into Marshall. Columbo again was beaten very badly and the DE walked into our backfield. It looked like bess had one on one coverage on the outside but there was no time and I think Marshall was the target on this play all along.

I would have liked a run if they completed one pass and got out of bounds. calling a run from the 47 and only 1 Timeout would have been a bad decision IMO. If you get stopped short of field goal range and your timeout is gone any pass needs to get out of bounds or you risk not even an attempted field goal.

I's Dan Hennings fault !!!

Why throw all four times? They had one timeout and only need about 12-15 yards

Because while we needed 12-15 yards to make a FG attempt feasible, ideally we would have gotten a lot more to make the FG attempt more reasonable to make. The offense at a minimum should have gotten those yards for us to have a chance at winning, and them not getting that small bit of yardage was an utter failure.

But you can't rest on your laurels and call plays that are at best going to give you a 50 yard FG attempt, you want to lower that number as much as you can.
