No wonder we haven't brought Hester in for a visit

5m for an average CB that isn't young and had an awful last season is pretty pricey. I did however love his attitude when he was on finsiders.

Grimes got 5 mill coming off an achilles injury....still no big deal

He's not garbage? You'll need to explain that, because all I see is a one trick pony on the wrong side of 30 who hasn't even been relevant in his one trick for over 2 years.

Are you serious? The dude is the most prolific kick/punt returner in NFL history. You can't quote me on saying Miami should sign the guy, he is certainly not "garbage". That is a ludicrous statement.

Such hostility  Let me guess, fan of the U?

Tell ya what, go grab a Delorean and a flux capacitor and then I'll give a **** about what he did in the past. The current player is garbage, especially for the money he's seeking. It's a million per fumble. Totally with it.

Doug Gottlieb made a valid point on the radio, if Lovie Smith wasn't trying to sign Hester it should be a warning sign much like Miami not making a bigger play for Matt Flynn.

While true, Flynn could've been looked at as a franchise guy whereas Hester would be a small addition to help the team.

No hostility bro, just facts.

I'm not saying he is what he used to be, but to label a player as "garbage" with a resume like his is comical. I guess these guys will be "garbage" soon because of age, being on the "wrong side of 30" and all:

The rules committee is proposing pushing kickoffs up to the 40. This guy asking for $4 million a year is laughable.

Exactly, KRs now are a guy deep in the depth chart, cheap, and expendable. In rare situations where you need something big to happen you send a better player out there

You do realize that basketball and football are two completely different sports and that it has literally nothing to do with Hester's current ability, right? Also, I'm not saying Hester will be garbage soon. I'm saying he's garbage right now.

You want facts? How many receptions did Hester have last year? How many TDs has he had the past two years? How many fumbles? He averaged 5 yards more per return than Thigpen, but had 3 more fumbles (few things more costly than a returner fumbling on the wrong side of the field). Yep, totally worth the money. That's the player looking for a job right now, not Hester circa 5 years ago. Now you give me some facts that show he hasn't lost a step and is totally worth being paid anything more than the vet minimum with performance-based incentives.

And as DolFan in NE points out, the potential change in kickoff rules lowers his value even more.

The term isn't a commentary on his career or worth as a person. It's the value
he has to a team in the NFL right now, and "Garbage" is about the level of value he has.

Led the league in kickoff return yardage last year. Stop being a hater. Obviously not worth the $$ or anything close to it but far from "garbage."

 did you take a look at his number of returns? Of course he had the most yards. 6th for average return. For a one trick pony, I expect better.

Stop being a UM homer. You're starting to act like Penn St fans.
