Nolan to Falcons

I don't think the switch will be excruciating. Wake should definitely do well as a 4-3 DE, he will put pressure on the QB. I think Starks can play the inside too, so I'd be fine with

Burnett - FA/Draft - Dansby

Langford - Starks - Odrick - Wake
Tell me how Wake would do well as a DE when he weighs 245 lbs. Name one DE in this league as small as Wake that has done anything...just name one DE in this league that small.

Jason Taylor, at 244 lbs was a defensive end most of his career in Miami(when they ran the 4-3).

If we do hire Zimmer and move to a 4-3, I suspect Wake will become a prime chip in the attempt to trade up for RGIII. It's pretty difficult to find a successful 4-3 DE in the league as small as Wake.

Cam is listed at 6'3 250, but for guys who are at comparable sizes in terms of height and weight (within 20 lbs) here ya go

Dwight Freeney, Robert Mathis, Jason Babin, Trent Cole, Elvis Dumervil, Chris Clemmons to name a few.

Dwight Freeney may be listed at 260 but he probably isn't, plus he's really short.

Same with Dumervil. His best season was as an OLB, but he's no slouch at DE getting 9.5, 8.5, 12.5, and 5 sacks in his seasons as DE.

truth if you play wake in a 43 at end your gonna implement one of those wide 9 looks like the eagles use where the de's are in a 4 point stance wide and their heads turned to the ball ready to fire out...like you see babin in so much...and i think wake could flourish under that type of system but that kind of d is predicated on getting leads and letting the pass rushers pin their ears and attack the qb...

any other system 43 though...ehhhh...i don't think he could handle the run d responsibilities and being stout enough at the poa

Nolan was good, I liked him but he did sell us an attacking - turnover/offensive minded defense.

We either didn't have the personnel or it was just never implemented. We never attacked but we sure were attacked the first 7 weeks and played soft in the fourth quarter mostly all year. Again, I wish he were staying - at least he knew what the hell he was doing, unlike Henning and Sparano.

too much free releases for guys in nolans scheme for me...kinda stuff that gets you torched by legit qbs

langford as a 43 end i'm not a fan of...thats where a guy like coples comes in in the draft and maybe you let langford walk cause he's a better 34 fit...hell i'd put odrick at end before i would langford on 4 man passing down fronts...odrick and starks imo though are more penetration type players...better 43 dt fits...i think they'd both flourish in a 43

Could Nolan leaving mean that he's looking @ interviewing Josh Mcdaniels for the HC spot? I know they both didn't get along, and yes i know Mcdaniels and Marshall prob can't coexist either, But i can see them trading Marshall for draft picks if they do decide to go with Mcdaniels.

if mcdaniels is the head coach get ready for this sucker to go even more belly up...he'd trade any real players we had for a bunch of maybe's...mcdaniels is a terrible hc candidate...terrible...he destroyed the broncos with his garbage

The Broncos that won their division and were in the playoffs with the team that he selected? Yeah, destroyed them.

I wouldnt put it past Ross to do it.

My complaint with Nolan (and I THINK I said it when he was hired) is that you will give big plays up down the middle of the field. I also didn't like how his defenses are too reliant on just one pass rusher (Parys Haralson in San Fran, Elvis Dummervil in Denver, Cam Wake here).

This year was not a good year for him. The last half of the year the D was great, BUT reports have come out that Todd Bowles took over a lot of the play calling duties on defense. How much of the turnaround was Nolan and how much was Bowles? When we were winless the first half of the season, Nolan made some VERY poor defensive calls (example having Cam Wake cover Santonio Holmes)

OK all you Ross and Ireland sycophants...spin this as a good thing...Nubs...to the head of the line!

Let Todd Bowles take over the D - he did it part of the year anyway and turned it around for us.
