Buoniconti: Dolphins front office doesn't understand free agency, lacks creativity

“They’re using a guy, Carl Peterson, who took a playoff team and left it in shambles in Kansas City. You combine that with Ireland and Steve Ross, who is a new owner… You have an organization in disarray. I would have surrounded myself with winners if I was Steve Ross. I’m not lumping Joe Philbin in because he doesn’t deserve to be.
“For an ex-player who knew success with Don Shula and Joe Thomas and Bobby Beathard, it’s hard for me to just sit there and say, ‘Things aren’t going in the right direction.’ They obviously aren’t.
“I’m sure Steve is now scratching his head saying, ‘Why the hell did I do this?’ You think he isn’t having buyer’s remorse?

This was funny in that same article towards the bottom:

### Several hundred people bought season tickets believing Miami would sign Peyton Manning. Oops. A bunch of them have been calling the past few days, asking for a refund. But the team said no.

Ross was truely in over his head.

Will be interesting to see how Philbin turns out as HC.

God, we can only hop Buoniconti is right and Ross has a MAJOR case of buyer's remorse and sells the team as soon as humanly possible.

Well lets put it this way, for starters, trading away your star receiver is not a very good start, and more decisions like that, he might not last as long as Sparano.

The idea Buoniconti floats of Nat Moore as Executive VP of Football Ops is very intriguing.

I would like that move. The team needs someone who has the respect of the fanbase to do damage control right now. Nat Moore is a class guy and he knows the team, the fans, etc.

First off, getting rid of Marshall was not a bad move. He is a piece of crap that beats woman and may be facing a major suspensoin this season. Not to mention he was the least clutch reciever on our team last year. Secondly, it was not our new coaches decision to get rid of him. It was our GM's.............just sayin

Oh really, the Coach has no say....?

I find that hard to believe.

BTW- I disagree with your opinion of Brandon Marshall, he's a great player and a decent person.

Exactly. Moore is well-respected, a good football man, and exudes class. Something this organization DESPERATELY needs out front right now.

Way to go Buoniconti, tell the truth about this train wreck of a front office. I especially like him calling out the man behind the throne, Carl Petersen.

I agree with Nick. The dolphins franshise at this time is not creative. Its like a value chart approach. Lets hope philbin can turn things around with this draft.

I would like that move. Too bad it would only be symbolic, like when Dan Marino held the position (then ultimately resigned when he figured out how symbolic it was).

Reading that was hilarious. Bouniconti is dead on.
