Now that Ireland is staying, his first move should be...

I'm not saying I'm fine with them stepping up next year, especially, like you said, with minimum playing time. And it's obvious with the current FA acqusitions that the coaches arent relying on them this year either. But we just dont know enough to speculate on next year, imo.

You just agreed with my speculation on next year. You cant count on Irelands draft picks because they haven't shown anything and we will be forced to spend money in FA again to cover up for it. This is my whole point about why Ireland should be fired. He consistently misses at the top of the draft and that is where you build the foundation of the team.

Clay is in his 3rd year in the league and Taylor and Davis have gotten almost no playing experience which is pretty critical for a CB.

I'm not calling any rookies bust...I don't do that I know how the process works but I don't think you can count on these guys to start next year with the lack of playing time they've received this year. Heck Jamar Taylor barely played in the preseason he's been hurt so much. I think next year you look at Grimes (if we re-sign him) and Carroll as your starters and hopefully somewhere down the line next season...maybe mid-season...Jamar Taylor has shown enough to start. He has the skills but at this point you have to worry about durability.

As for rooting for the team to fail...that's something I've never done nor will ever do. However, fans like yourself, who are huge homers and think everyone associated with the team are perfect and can do no wrong is also a problem. Ireland's drafts are not good enough plain and simple. The first 3 rounds of the draft for him have been especially difficult over his 6 drafts. We have no players on this roster from the 2008 draft, we have one player on this roster from the 2009 draft (Hartline). How do you build a foundation like that?

thumbs down for the homer comment based on difference of opinions...classy.

Again, Im not 'counting on them to start' next year, but Im not ready to count them out either. And I do see your point regarding the 2009 draft, but youre forgetting Clemons. That being said, player development has been just as much a problem if anything.

So he's bad at drafting based on injuries...got it.

btw Parcells was still here in 2009.

So counting forward:

2010: Odrick, Misi, J. Jerry, Carroll, R. Jones.
2011: Pouncy, D Thomas, Clay, Wilson
2012: Tannehill, Martin (boooo), O Vernon, Egnew, Miller, Matthews.

He isnt drafting as bad as you claim and if you want to reach by using 2009 as your only example...even with parcells still here, that's on you.

In all fairness it's pretty hard for a rookie to get playing time when the veterans above them on the depth chart have been playing as well as they have.

Oline should be top free agent tackle and draft tackle.. Sam brenner is probably our answer at lt guard

Honestly, resigning rent grimes would be great, but there are so many UFA cb on the market this offseason
Tim Jennings, alterran Vernon, tarell brown, Dom. Rodgers-crom, Aquib talib, Charles Tillman, captain munnerlyn, mike Jenkins, the list goes on! Coyle is the king of cb play, just look what he did to the so called scrubs Carroll and Wilson.
Also, he should sign legarrete Blount. He's a gamer.

I think Solai's effectiveness has been down this year cuz of nagging injuries that make him miss some time within games too. He used to take on blockers, chuck them aside and then tackle the RB or pressure the QB back into Wake's clutches. This year, he's kind of 'just a guy' a lot of the time. I've seen Starks be more impactful, yet at other times be neutralized by blocking too. These other teams know what they're looking at on film before we play them. How they react to our players should be very informative to us on the value and versatility of our guys.

I like Rogers-Cromartie cuz he big and that's the direction the league has been going with WRs and pass-catching TE's. With a well-thrown ball, many WRs can get position and make plays on Grimes even if his coverage is golden. Having said that, some things are just indefensible and if it can be defensed, Grimes usually gets the job done. You can't teach some of the talent that Grimes has, though, and I think his leadership-by-example and otherwise make him a must-sign. Letting him go without a top-rate offer on the table sends a horrible message to your locker room and I think there was already too much of that last offseason.

As far as oline, resign what you have, clabo is ok, as is mckinnie, unless you can get Brandon Albert, and only Brandon Albert, let jerry walk, try to sign wade smith, and rebuild the whole oline in the draft. Start with a guard that fits the philbin play style, then draft two tackles back to back, then another guard

As someone who understands why Ireland is still here, and to some degree no problem with it. People like you put 2008 thru 2010 all on Ireland, leaving Parcells hands clean. I and others, think Parcells had a heavy hand while being in the FO. I believe he had a template, and it was to be followed to the tee. But once Ireland drafted Tannehill, and Philbin was brought in, it should be understood that he was here going forward. The only way you pull that rug out, is if the team completely imploded and laid an egg this season. Something that hasn't happened.

You may not like his drafts. And frankly, the 'gurus' here, are hit and miss themselves. But Ireland as a GM found this franchises long needed QB. He helped in the hiring of a Coach, that I think Tannehill has developed under because of him, not in spite of him. I could point to a franchise like ATL or NO and their recent draft picks and show you absolute trash. But that won't matter to people like you. You along with the likes of Hayden, CK and many others, just want the stench of Ireland gone. It doesn't matter that this team is fighting for a playoff spot with a 30 game NFL starter at the helm.

SideNote: a well known 'guru' here, said Pat White would REVOLUTIONIZE the QB position. Is his opinion now trash?

I guess him saying they have a great working relationship, doesn't matter. Have you heard otherwise?

I have not. But we don't know what's going on inside his noggin either way. Besides, what's he gonna say to the media? "**** that guy, he sucks, I hate him, and all his stupid freckles"?
