Easy Tiger. For once I'd like to see this team get better as the season progresses and it may happen this year. It's August 8th/9th. Just chill and see what develops.thecoordinator said:all this talk about hudson houck and how improved the o line was...what the hell was everyone looking at in camp? from what i saw they sucked bad. they did not get any push and there was absolutely holes or lanes for any of our backs. it just goes to show you that no matter who the coach is, garbage is garbage and and there's not much you can do with it but take it out.

Carey let Alex Brown go by him only once, but when he did he recovered VERY quickly and in time to mash the heck out of Brown as he tried to turn the corner toward Feeley. Feeley instinctively stepped up and was still able to scan the field, but Brian Urlacher happened to come in on a delayed blitz on that play.
The OL's run blocking was not up to par at all. But, that is fine, for now. What the Dolphins proved is that with improved pass protection, that WR corp of playmakers (read: chambers, boston, mcmichael, booker, gilmore, thompson, welker), and QBs capable of making a few plays (which both Feeley and Frerotte did tonight), the Dolphins have a dangerous enough passing game to do damage and get attention...especially with an OC that's all too willing to throw deep. For now, that will serve as enough to back the safeties off a bit, and when they do, we may not have the OL to pulverize in run blocking but we DO have the running backs to hurt teams.
I'm very, very satisfied with our offense's prospects. It's our defense I'm a little concerned about. No pressure = no big plays, no big plays = giving up tons of yardage AND scoring opportunities. Our secondary is going to give up plays just by virtue of how much zone we're playing. If our front seven doesn't pressure the passer better without huge package blitzes, expect a lot of plays over the top in the passing game....

NOT THE O-LINE
thecoordinator said:guys lol you tell me how this line looked any diffrent from what we saw last year. to this point, ZERO progress has been made. now, that's not to say it can't and won't get any better but what i saw tonight won't cut it. it's my own fault, too, for listening to the hype from camp and buying into it.

Vernon Carey is holding his own folks. He is constantly going up against JT, and coming out way way way ahead of where Wade Smith ever dreamed. JT whopped him in one on ones a few times today but Carey was pissed each time. He seems to have much better arm strength, and when he locks up, he does not give way easily. He does have one glitch that I've seen. When a speed guy can get to his outside, he is slower in that direction that going in. Houck was working with him, telling him all it takes is a simple side step to get your leverage on him.
Seth McKinney got his lunch handed to him by Keith Traylor thruout the whole practice. In one on ones they have this assistant coach playing the part of the Qb. I swear he cannot be taller than 5'3'', and as soon as they said hike, he was looking for where he could get out of the way. Traylor had Mckinney back peddling on contact. In 11 on 11 drills he was doing the same thing. Not at all a good day for McKinney.
James was also beaten a few times during one on ones.
Whitley also had his lunch handed to him by Vickerson, and Shaw. He came back on his last one on one, and had a nice battle with Shaw though.
Wade Smith was again backing up at Center, and slowly he is progressing. You can tell sometimes that he is learning, but what makes the most sense here is that being the Center, he can use the strength of his legs to drive block. His upper body is not nearly strong enough to be a tackle, so this is it. He better improve or my guess is he's gone.
Hadnot was about even in one on ones, going against Holliday, and Romero.
MacDugal is a good match up for Roth. He takes the initial strike from Roth pretty good, and then drives him outside when he can. I would have to say that in one on ones Mac got the better of him today, but Roth never stops.
Ok enough oline for now.

Maybe a step back this evening here.
McKinney was having lunch, and a rookie was serving it to him.
They let Macintosh play with the starters at RT tonight. He did switch with MacDugal though. I think they wanted to give Dugal a break there, because I thought that he was having some of the better practices of all the lineman so far. OR maybe they are getting prepared to move someone into Jeno James spot? Is Macdugal too slow to play LG? Or maybe the plan is move Dugal to RG and play Hadnot at Center? Who knows but there is some movement going on tonight.
James must have been sick because he was not having a good night at all. I read that he was sent to the hospital, so a pass he gets, for now.
Alabi had been switching from LT to RT until tonight, when he worked soley at backup LT. He took it too JT on one play, but he got in a little cheap shot at the end. Then on the next play he tried to lock up with JT but he was holding JT's throat a little bit, cause JT to smack his arm away, and stare him down. JT's replacement was sent in immediately. Overall though this kid was doing OK.
Hadnot hasnot played any Center yet, but he is doing just fine at RG. He is getting beat once in a while, and coming right back for more.
St Clair is backup RG.
