With that roster and Chan Gailey's knowledge, Fitzpatrick could probably be moderately successful. He could steer them to 8-10 wins, especially against the utterly soft AFC South and NFC East.
...which is why its imperative they start Smith. He will either become a franchise quarterback(:sidelol:) or put them in position to acquire a franchise quarterback. Thankfully for us, Bowles won't allow Geno to sink their chances. Hes to competitive to let their season die. If Fitzpatrick doesn't win the starting job outright in training camp he'll be elevated to starter 6 or 7 games into the season. The Jets should get stuck in that territory we've floated around: to successful to get high picks, not successful enough to really compete. And potential franchise quarterbacks will remain just out of reach.
John Idzik is the one of the best thing to happen to the Dolphins in years. His decision to pass on an inexplicably falling Teddy Bridgewater screwed them for years to come.
