We have all talked about moving him to DT, which makes sense, and I thought he played inside some last year. However, looking at snap counts from PFF, they do not show him doing so. They have him playing 951 snaps, 364 run plays, 556 pass plays, and 21 in coverage.

They list every player, even taking one snap at DT but, no Pee Wee. Are they wrong here?

they have to be...he kicked inside in the nickle...the 21 plays in coverage is hard to see also...probably just him dropping off into something soft after the snap on occasion

They do account coverage in dropping off the line and in the soft zone. That was only a play or two a game, and I can recall some. I'm trying to remember him moving inside, and can't say for sure that he did. They show McD, and even Baker for a snap or two but, no Odrick.

yeah i figured that must be what it was on the coverage...i even saw solia drop a few times just in case a qb forgets about him and thinks the short middle of the field will be wide open and we can steal one...i know for a fact odrick did not take all his snaps out at 43 de last year...whether pff accounts for him shifting inside as being snaps taken at dt or not i guess that's another thing...starks and odrick played in the nickle at dt in 4 man pass fronts...

There were many times were somone lined up on the LOS outside of Odrick, but PFF may have counted that player as an OLB, where that would have made Odrick a DE. I think in order to call Odrick a DT, someone would have had to line up outside of Odrick with their hand in the dirt.

makes sense but didn't vernon line up outside with a hand in the dirt...i was thinking it must be what you said...a misi lined up at the los on the edge or a vernon was viewed as an olb in some sets...still seems odd that they would take a stance like that but if they did it makes sense i guess

What PFF shows is Starks with 826 snaps, Soliai with 622, McD with 255, Randall with 148, Flueller with 14, and Baker with 3 at DT. The team had a total of 1145 snaps on D. The combined DT total is 1868 snaps. I'm starting to doubt Odrick moving inside.

ok doubt it all you want...if pff views a guy who is essentially playing a 43 dt in the nickle as a de in how they break down snap counts not much one can do about it...

Good point Z. That would explain explain it some. Does anyone remember Odrick actually playing DT?

I think with the ambiguity surrounding the DE/OLB in the hybrid defenses, its easiest to define players by their role instead of their positions. PPF tires to pigeonhole players into a position imo

Shoulda said doubting Odrick played there last year, which I thought he did some. I've read some posts on how well he played on the inside but, it would appear that it never happened.

Just a quick search and found him here http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlights/09000d5d819c1749/Jared-Odrick-fumble-recovery

Thats an example of where the guy on the end may be considered the OLB because he is standing up, and Odrick is considered the DE although he lines up on inside shoulder of the OT

He definitely plays some inside, not sure it was called DT though

Agree on DE/OLB but, not someone moving inside to play DT. That's pretty easy to see.

well if your memory doesn't tell ya odrick kicked inside in the nickle a plenty i guess go back and take a look at the games for yourself...cause he did...again if pff calls it de even though he's kicked inside so be it but he kicked inside on passing downs

I don't have any saved games in moving on. I will trust your memory, and ask who else was in the front 7 when he moved inside?
