Who cares about the media? Frankly, who cares about the fickle Dolphin fans? Get the best coach available. I wouldnt be upset with Cowher but I feel like he doesnt have the desire to do what it takes anymore. If he still had the burning desire he wouldnt still be doing pre-game shows, he'd be on the sideline somewhere.
players seem to care about TV time dont they?

Players seem to stay away from us, or use us as contract leverage, and if the media was on our jocks like they are up in NY and NE and pitt, maybe we wouldnt have to pay someone like marshall as much money to drop balls...

He did, though lost to the Cheatriots.

i actually like mike martz. i LOVE his hyperaggressive attitude. he can match belicheck with this. and he CAN play chess with belicheck like another poster pointed out sparano cant. one thing im not sure of is can he dial it down a little bit if he needs to? i believe he has the handcuffs on in chicago. BUT there are a couple factors with martz that deserve some attention

#1 he had perhaps the best left tackle in the game and a very good line in st louis. as well a clearly a hall of fame QB and RB. he had THE PERFECT storm of personal on offense in st louis for his system

what does this guy do if he doesnt have enough talent on the line to protect his quarterback? his quarterback is going to get hit. and that can create a cascade of problems potentially EVEN IF we get him and surround him with talent.

#2 his system relies on trust between the QB and receivers. the quarterback is throwing to a spot and trusting his receivers will be there. its going to take time regardless for players to grow into a system of offense like this. and that is a potential problem only because his success isnt as easily duplicatable. it will be more difficult to bring in players and plug them into the offense. this is a concern moreso with martz than other people.

this is a guy that we would need to spend heavily on offense in the draft very early in his tenure as head coach at the detriment of the defense, and allow those players to grow together. not a bad idea in and of itself. but success would take some time, and wed have to take a step back. would the fans be able to deal with it? i dont think so. and we could even get to the point with the guy where the offense would be ready to break through and wed be running him out of town.

just sayin

Cowher makes sence. He would probably bring his pal Marino back into the organization in some capacity.

And if they don't play tough he'll spit all over them as he's chewing them out on national TV.

Dude can get INTENSE ... just what the docter ordered.

disclaimer: I support whom ever is our coach .. this is a what if.

Without really knowing what other options are out there, I voted Cowher. I do like Gruden as well. People talk about him using Dungy's players but somehow completely forget the fact he built up a Raiders team that he beat in the Superbowl. Jeff Fisher would be a good choice as well.

Anybody out there?? Give me Tony Dungy, Ross has enough candy to get him fired up again!!!

Rob Ryan suxs r u kidding me. I rather have Mike Martz then him. For me it is between Cowher and Gruden. Like them both and want either one. I want no more off or def cordinators. Bring me a winner.

Ps I like Jeff Fisher.

i voted other we need a young fresh head coach, we tried the parcells tree, now we need to try someone from the bill walsh tree, example steve mariucci, dennis green, or any of the younger guys coming up the ranks. but before the head coach we need to get a new gm

I think Cower is the best option of those listed, but I wonder who else might be available by then?

cowher would be the best. He understands drafting OL and tough D. He understands coaching.

one problem. he doesnt really want this job. His wife prob would hate south florida. and the fans....well, we all know what thats about. high profile coaches will stay away from s. florida. They understand that miami is not all that great a football town.

His wife passed away last year unfortunately. There were rumors he was offered to coach here as was Harbaugh, but Cowher wanted to pick his GM and Ross wasn't ready for that yet.

Not all that great a MEDIOCRE-to-BAD football town you mean. I'd like to see a town that is.

Cowher would be my first choice, because he brings tradition and prestige to a much malinged franchise. He would and should get full control over the team and personnel. I think the day Bill Cowher is signed to a 4 year contract season tickets will soar. Couple that with a possible top 5 pick in the 2012 draft and the fan base would go wild.

Gruden is a clown and I don't think he would be any better than what we have now. Gruden is better for Monday Night Football than walking the sideline.
