Bill Cowher has a Superbowl Ring. Rob Ryan has: 1. A colestrol reading of 950, 2. A fat loudmouth Brother, 3. has to weigh himself on a zoo scale normally reserved for elephants, 4. all of the above.

He's probably not a good fit for us with Nolan and Marshal on the team but I think josh McDaniels could be a good coach when he gets another chance. I could see it a mile away that he was destroying the Broncos (and predicted they would be the worst team in the AFC last year) but I think he will have learned to tone down his "my way or the highway" approach. I think if he came to Miami he would build a team with one goal in mind: beat Belichick and the Patriots. And if we can beat the Patriots we can beat anybody.

josh mcdaniels well thats your opinion and i respect it but i hardly disagree, i want mcdaniels no where near the dolphins, i will take gruden, cowher. Anybody else in my opinion is just another coming of the saban era.

Jeff Fisher without a doubt. He proved over several years that he can develop his team, which is something we've been lacking for years now. Fisher also showed the ability to put together strong coaching staffs. He would most likely be a little hesitant to take the Miami job after what he went through with the owner in Tenn involving Vince Young so would most likely want to pick his GM. I think if Ross would bring in a strong GM/Coach Tandem it would set the stage for a bottom up rebuild of the team.
 
I'd say Cowher, but it makes me wonder if he still has that fire in his belly. This might turn out to be Jimmy Johnson the 2nd.
 
I'm not a big fan of ex-SB winning coaches. I think, generally, that the good ones are locked up by their teams during their prime or they develop an attitude that they're the only reason for their past team's success and want too much control. Give me a up-and-coming hungry coach fighting to make a name for himself, you'll sometimes end up with the Cam Cameron's of the world, but then again he never struck me as the hungry fighting type anyway. Rob Ryan is the closest on this list, has a built-in motivation to battle his brother 2x a year and has a passion we've lacked around here for a long time.
 
I never knock Cowher for "only winning 1 Super Bowl" ring in 15 years or whatever the common knock on him is. He has an impressive career, but the one thing that terrifies me about him is I think he might be stuck in the past, and has a higher chance of ignoring the QB position in favor of the defense and the running game--the same philosophy which has us in this never ending song and dance. Granted, he was there when Big Ben was drafted, but who knows whether or not he was on board with the pick. He'd be coming here with full control, that bothers me. And the other thing is, Pittsburgh hasn't skipped a beat since his departure and some may argue they have been better.
 
Haven't looked through this entire thread, but surprised i havent seen the name Rob Chudzinski.

He was a up and comer a few years back before the Browns imploded and has been absolutely brilliant with Cam Newton and the Panthers offense.

With the success that Newton is receiving(albeit way to early to judge definitively) and the fact that Chud made Derek Anderson look like a pro-bowler, id figure this board would be eating the guy up as a potential coach.....or at least quarterback fixer.
 
I think that picking a head coach is a total crap shoot but if it were my decision I would want cohwer in the hopes he would coach for a few seasons then pass the reigns off to a coach of his choosing and he takes the GM role.
 
Of this group I would say Gruden. He is a good coach just not a good talent evaluator as he falls in love with guys. If he came in Ross can't give him full control. If you are looking for a veteran head coach then Fisher is probably at the top of my list. If you are looking at coordinators I would look at Rob Chudzinzski, Pete Carmichael Jr, and Brain Schottenheimer. Yes I want and offensive minded guy.
 
Rob Ryan, Cowher, or Gruden. A coach who doesn't take **** from anyone and a guy who would start a fight at a bar for no reason.

If Chud keeps working the kind of magic that he's doing Cam Newton then he'll definately have a few suitors in the offseason. He does have Miami ties, he coached with the Hurricanes under Butch Davis.

No way. Singlehandedly DESTROYED the Denver Broncos. No way in Hell should he ever be an head coach in the NFL ever again.
