Offensive Rankings: Sparano Vs. Philbin

Henne and Tannehill are pretty much comparable, Henne isn't better. Henne was a statue with no pocket presence as well. At this point, I am ready to say the Hennehill moniker is apt.

Tannehill will go on to have a solid career as a stopgap/backup QB just like Henne, but its becoming more clear he isn't a true starting QB.

Henne is a below average QB bwt the 20's once he gets in the red zone the space is smaller things happen quicker and he is over matched and either turns the ball over over settles for fg

RT on the other hand is an average QB bwt the 20's and above average in the Red Zone, scores more TD and less FG without turning the ball over... much rather have RT over Henne any day....

Those numbers are incorrect. We're scoring 24ppg, which is good for 14th in the NFL. If you count ONLY offensive scores, we are scoring 21.8 per game, which is good for 16th in the league.

However, it's official. We have finally cracked the top half of the league in scoring offense.

To be honest, watching the games it feels like this offense is the best we had in over a decade....if this offense gets into a groove it will be tough to stop....

Philbin promised a high flying, scoring, aggressive offense with a founded on the passing game. When he got here with this message, we all slurped it up, envisioning the Packer offense flying down the field. After years of trudging Sparanoball, it was a welcome message. But in reality, what have we received? A quick look:

As you can see from the rankings above, Philbin's offenses have by-in-large been WORSE than Sparano's. And I didn't even include the rushing offense. Sparano's teams completely blew Philbin away when it came to rushing offense...

Woops. Yeah, I get that.

But a couple of teams that have been scoring more points than us had an early bye, so that's not really the best measurement.

Give it time. IMO, you'll be seeing things very differently with Philbin/Lazor's offense.

Not sure these stats make a good case when Sparano pretty much bottomed-out in 2010, much worse than his first year with Pennington.
At least Philbin's team is making strides in some areas. We're scoring more TD passes this year than I've seen in a while.

To both coaches detriments (thanks Ireland) Henne had Marshall, and Tanne has Wallace. Swap those pairs around and Tanne with Marshall would be pretty deadly, likewise, Henne throwing bombs to Wallace would also rack up TD's.

Just looking at league rankings for offense and trying to conclude something about Sparano over Philbin is stupid.

Those stats don't say anything about the corresponding defense and SITUATIONAL FOOTBALL. At least under Philbin we have a few sound victories per year. Under Sparano, aside from the Wildcat debut, the team could not win a ****ing game without putting you in a hypertensive crisis as the last 10 seconds ticked off the clock in the fourth quarter. And most of those games went against us in those 10 seconds.

Do people forget we are talking about Sparano here? He probably brought extra kickers into camp over the summer just so he could pay one to wear a ball-gag while Tony windmill masturbated.
