Sorry 55, if you evaluate him as a guard we just see things differently.

Long was nasty, tenacious and a brawler. He absolutely could play guard and many people saw that. They were projecting him as a tackle because he had the physical gifts to give that a go as well.

But Fisher is a finesse guy with long levers and good feet. Fisher is a guy who will play LT or maybe RT in a zbs. Fisher is no guard.

When you get a chance, watch him against power in the run game. I think you will revise your analysis.

I'll take another look at Fisher but there was nothing in Long's game that made me think he was a brawler or nasty. Oregon players, as we all should know, are more finesse guys to begin with.

Fisher has played some guard in Oregon so the idea it is totally foreign to him is not true. He played some early in his career in Eugene.
Maybe in the PAC 10, but he isn't going to succeed there in the NFL.

And why would you waste such an obvious OT prospect forcing him to OG where he will not succeed? If someone slides inside it will not be Fisher. That's my take on it anyway.

Projecting Fisher to OG feels like projecting Miller as our 3rd and short inside runner. Just because his height and weight may resemble another runner, doesn't mean he is that type of runner.

Sorry 55, we just disagree on this analysis.

Long had heavier hands than fisher...fisher competes he just does his work with angles and positioning created by the elite level athlete...a kick inside there is like kicking jawaun james inside except fishers the superior athlete...james technique is more sound in pass pro though in space

They are both tackles all the way...i dont much care if a guys played a position before its obvious what fishers best fit is and where your bang for your buck will come from...fisher doesnt have the core or hand strength for the phone booth

The movement he creates is all about angles...cant move anyone straight ahead even at tackle despite his size advantage which wont be there at guard

Barry Jackson reports espn is reporting that Crabtree is signing with Raiders.

Raiders are giving former 49er WR Michael Crabtree a 1-year, $3 million deal, with another $2 million in incentives, per source. @AdamSchefter

Interesting I'm assuming we weren't too impressed with his workout possibly? :ponder:

Steelers CB Ike Taylor retiring, just as longtime teammate Troy Polamalu did last week. No surprise in either case but Pitt losing linchpins. @AdamSchefter

if i was a pitt fan i'd be happy those 2 retired...charles tillman needs to retire also...he'll be on ir before the bye week

Guess Jennings is our fallback if we don't pick up a starting WR.
