Official Free Agency and Rumors Thread

Omar reported Hickey had interest way back and Hickey was not making a secret about it, thought at that time just some smoke but now Jackson. It could be just due diligence but he could also be in serious consideration for our pick.

I think we are keeping our options open.
I think there is definitely interest there.
Lets say the dream scenario happens and you essentially get a 21 year old Marshawn Lynch without the crazy.

Red zone, protection, short yardage. All these problems are fixed(not but lets say helped tremendously)

I'd be on board with Gurley ...gotta take a chance on elite at some point.

If he never returns to full strength, we have egg on our faces.

If he does, we likely have a top 5 runner in the league for 8-10 years. Blocks well and catches passes out of the backfield. Just the full package.

I'll take those odds.

Would be elated if we took Gurley. That's a selection where you are DARING to be great.

Bleep all the "taking a running back in the 1st round" haters on here lol

Taking a running back in the 1st rnd wouldnt bother me if he was actually healthy.

Not to mention this is the best running back draft we have seen in years.

I do like gurly. If he was 100% healthy he would have more interest by me. I just don't like drafting guys that could be injury prone. But guys get hurt playing FB. So if he can be a true bad ass and help us and stay healthy I wouldn't be mad if we nab him. Who ever we draft at #14 I want to be the real deal. I think we grab a wr if the one we want is there.

Steelers' doctors and trainers put ASU WR Jaelen Strong through battery of tests on his wrist Friday during his team visit and cleared him; Steelers doctors sending those results to other teams so Strong does not have to go to Indianapolis for a medical recheck on his wrist.@AdamSchefter

It is going to be a rb or we at 14
Hayden - I give you credit for being consistent. You set your mind, set the sails on your boat and don't deviate. I have correctly predicted the position that the Dolphins have drafted in the 1st round for the past 4 Drafts in a row. I didn't expect Juwan James last year, but thought it would be an O-lineman. However, this year I haven't got a clue. It could be CB or mike LB or O-line or WR or RB. I haven't got a clue! For the first time in ages we may actually just pick the best player available. But I'd be surprised if it's a DT, DE, TE, OLB, LS, Kicker or Punter. Foxy Hayden - I see that you expect Tannenbaum to go for a splashy sexy pick like RB or WR, but I'm increasingly of the belief that Tannenbaum will be listening closely to Hickey (who's a better player evaluator) and we draft conservatively in a position of need, eg CB, especially if Trae Waynes is on the board or OG if Scherff is still available.

I know the team refuses to think Dallas Thomas sucks, but for 2.5 mil, we could've had Wisniewski... :bobdole:

______________

Jaguars signed C Stefen Wisniewski, formerly of the Raiders, to a one-year, $2.5 million deal.

Recovering from offseason shoulder surgery, the deal is of the "prove it" variety after Wisniewski struggled to find the money he was looking for in free agency. Barely 26 and with four years of above-average tape already in hand, Wisniewski is a great bet to rehab his value and come back in a stronger negotiating position next offseason. Wisniewski should slide into center beside LG Zane Beadles and RG Brandon Linder with Luke Joeckel starting left tackle and newly-signed Jermey Parnell holding down the right side of the Jags' offensive line.

If they draft offensive line in round 1 when there were more than enough "decent' interior line players at good prices in free agency . . . then I really lose hope for this regime . . . all of them.

Why not have Wiz, at worst, as your primary interior backup guy . . . a guy who can play Center and Guard. I understand you got Walton . . . but so what. Field an army if you have to . . . and if Turner and even Thomas come out on top, then at least you gave them some legit competition to backup your theories. Sure beats just handing them over the jobs.
