Official Mia/Hou Joint Practice 1 Thread.

Definitely, last year is mostly if not entirely irrelevant to 2023. I'm also worried about the other pick 6 he threw in practice and the 3 picks he threw the other day. Tua needs to play at least 2 drives in the game on Saturday and probably more, it would be foolish to sit him as if he's some star QB that has nothing to work on. Belichick used to play Brady in the preseason after he was an established star, so if McDaniel thinks Tua is above that he's wrong. I know that it's a trend now days to sit your starting QB for the entire preseason thanks to guys like McVay. But we all saw what happened when McVay met Belichick in the Superbowl, he got f****** schooled.

" ...last year is mostly if not entirely irrelevant to 2023."

So, last year is irrelevant to this year, but:
1) "Belichick used to play Brady in the preseason after he was an established star, so if McDaniel thinks Tua is above that he's wrong."
2) But we all saw what happened when McVay met Belichick in the Superbowl, he got f****** schooled
.

When, exactly, did McVay meet Belichick or play Brady in the preseason?

Rong, Rong, Rong! - Logical absurdity detected, logical absurdity detected.

Check for leaks.
Your brain is dripping out; and that's not good. - LOL

He was figured out late in the year. Take away the middle of the field and force him to throw to the outside. He doesn’t have the arm to get the ball outside on time.

The ball hangs in the air and allows DBs to jump the routes.
I too felt that defenses had him figured out. Which is why I am not definitively sold on him after the string of stellar statistical performances he had. This began to manifest just before the period of concussions so any talk of this defensive edge was ultimately overshadowed.

Would like to see some Will Anderson vs Austin Jackson battles
I just finished grading out AJAX on our Falcons game. He had an amazing start and even had 2-3 pancakes / knockdowns in his two series of play.
Best of all, on all but one of his snaps he stepped quickly, correctly, and right where he needed to be to win. Which he did.
He didn't get much help (scheme wise by doubling or chipping) but he did get some fake zone looks on Play Action passes and some pocket stuff where he solo'd his assignment nicely.

Anybody that follows my posts on AJAX or that has chatted in game with me knows I have been extremely critical of AJAX, but SO FAR he looks like a first round draft pick at RT. We are doing some scheme stuff to help him that I will post about if I continue to see it vs the Texans.

I never see you post unless you're complaining about Tua, go root for the Titans bro, nobody is stopping you. Peak mental illness

I never bought into him. Too small, un-athletic and broken down. He had a good stretch last year beating up on bad teams and throwing to wide open guys in the middle of the field. It was never going to last.
Then all the scouts who touted him at a top qb to be had, it wasn't the hype of a typical no 1 pick qb. Remember before Tua's injury he was touted as no 1 qb, not burrow. Burrow's surge and Tua's injury changed that. So there has to be pretty darn good physical talent for this to happen regarding scouts and nfl gms. So It's more a mental part for Tua to not be the guy for miami unless his college injury caused him to never be the same qb he was before the injury

anyone else just hoping Robert Jones takes like 12 steps forward and grabs the starting Left Guard spot and doesn't let it go for a decade?

is that too crazy to be possible?
Good news is that we currently have 3 LG's playing very well - Eich, Wynn, and jones... and another OG looking OK in Cotton. Don't forget our best OG is Hunt so that leaves three players competing for that LG spot and they are all looking good.
It could be this situation plays itself out beyond pre season. In fact that wouldn't surprise me and might be beneficial given our current injuries and player injury histories.

Keep in Mind Jones played against 3rd string Defenders against the Falcons. So while its super exciting to see him compete, we may want to hold off on expectations until we see that against starting level players. All of our LG's played well Friday.

Think Jonesy had 7 starts last season (or thereabouts) and was an UDFA of ours the season before.

Looking for that next step.

Because your dumbass is only pointing out ints when he has TD throws to…..
Why make it personal? Pick sixes a bad, game changing bad. He’s had 3 recently and many more interceptions than last year in joint practices. The video if the one he threw was rookie stuff. He can’t he doing that in year 4. He should not be throwing those passes period.

hasn't he also thrown like 20 TDs this week?

Preseason dude! You need to chill, if you actually think Tua’s on field performance is a concern I am worried about you….we have other issues you can stress about instead.
