SF is one of the least blitzing teams.

Slowing down #97 better be priority #1
Brother the normal tendencies will probably be changed up for this game. Not only do we need Ingold for blitzes, but anyone that gets through the offensive line to give Tua the time he needs. I rather keep an extra person back there to help out then to see someone get a free shot at him. :ffic:

A few things I would like to say or predict.

I am concerned that Mike McDaniel will try to do much today against his former team and former mentor. I want to see a balanced attack on offense. Always feel like we pass the ball more than we should and always feels like we should run the ball more. I would like to see that today. get the ground game going then over the top with Play action passes. If Tua starts getting hit then use max protection add a TE or FB to help block. Just don't get too cute or too aggressive on offense Mike.

On defense, don't blitz and see what happens to begin with. Jimmy G has been really good against the blitz this season. We traded for Chubb for this reason. And next big thing is......tackle, wrap up and tackle.

If we can go up early in this game then I think we can win pretty easily. If we get behind early then I will be concerned.

I really believe coach McD has a problem being “simple” on the offensive side of the ball. Sometimes that’s the best strategy.

I pray if our tackles are clearly struggling he realizes this early and appropriately adjust.

Armstead inactive. Let's hope it was just a McDaniel ploy and that the team has a solid plan in place to be without him. I'm honestly glad with him not playing but I just hope the staff didn't buy into their own bull that he could play.

Not that it matters if they thought he might start. The guy that practiced at LT all week will be starting there.

It definitely does matter, Armstead is a guy who has shut down the entire left side, and any other guy replacing him will need to have the whole gameplan structured to give him help. We've seen what happens when other guys enter the game at LT trying to do things the same way we do with Armstead - and it's a disaster.

With Little and Shell at tackle, Tua better have his head on a swivel. Going against this defense with below average backup tackles just isn’t the best way to go into this game, IMO.

Its a different thing entering the game un-prepared as opposed to having a whole week of practice to account for it...

Look at the difference between Skylar having a week of practice as a starter vs. coming in cold...

I didn't say it doesn't matter that Armstead is out. I said it doesn't matter if the coaches "buy into their own bull that he could play."

Even if they said every day, "Terron will play," we've got the same scenario as if they said on Monday, "Terron is out at least one game." Whoever is starting today got all the reps in practice this week.

I mean that's what I am saying - I hope they prepared for him being out and not the other way around based on false hope that Armstead would bea ble to go. I think we all detected a lot of gamesmanship in the possibility he could play this week, but dumb things happen. Nobody really thought we would go into Tennessee last year with the running game humming and decide to pass the ball 80 percent of the time in freezing rain when our QB couldn't even hold the ball. Dumb things happen in the NFL all the time so I don't make assumptions.

Well, we haven't seen that yet. Neither Bridgewater nor Skylar played much the week they practiced as the starter; both were injured.

That's why I scoff at fans using injuries as an excuse for their losses. Three weeks in a row, our starting QB left the game with injuries, and we lost all three.
