Because unlike us sitting behind a keyboard he's going to get his ribs broken if he doesn't get rid of the ball and move on to the next play if things don't work as hoped for.

Besides, it wasn't a bad throw or decision. He gave his player a chance to catch up to the ball in the place a defender couldn't get to it. Guy couldn't catch up. Nobody died.
