Everyone worried about Armstead injury history and I get it, but it’s being overblown. The cap will be spent one way or another. Structure the contact so we can get out in a couple years and lock in the elite OT.

When he’s on the field he’ll be amazing for us and can teach our young lineman a thing or two. Just having elite players in the building matters.

The best teams acquire elite talent and even if they want to move on later they always end up getting compensation with teams via trade. We just need top level talent.

For all you guys wanting Armstead here don't worry he will probably be signed. Chris Grier has a love for guys who can't stay on the field, and Armstead fits that bill. High probablity he will be a Dolphin. Parker, Williams, Fuller, Tua, Moesart. I am sure I am missing somebody else as well.
Breaking News: Miami Dolphins have changed their names from the Dolphins to the Miami Red Cross.
You are missing a few: Waddle, Ogbah, Jaelan Phillips, Eric Rowe.

So if Grier doesn't sign him he's an idiot according to some but if he does he's still an idiot?

If Saints go from 80 million above the cap and then land Watson, Armstead and other free agents, it's proof that the cap is a lie.

Or the cap just does not apply to some teams.

Godwin will stick with Bucs for a few years. 3 yr deal.

Watson looks just about Settled

Again, it would be so telling about the Cap and how this year was going to be the Saints year of reckoning due to it, and they go from being way over it to way under in 48 hours and land Watson. The salary cap is a joke. If this years' Saints situation isn't proof enough, I don't know what would be for some.

In fact, Is there any team that someone can use as an example that has truly suffered from being in "Cap Hell"? I'm not talking about not resigning every single player possible, because that happens every year with many teams, and they still stay competitive, so that doesn't constitute "Cap Hell" to me.

The Saints are headed for Cap Hell in a few years. If he is traded to the Saints, I see him leaving in a few years ala LeBron. They'll have a 2-3 year competitive window before the massive bill comes due.

And this is likely the reason for the massive Cap Clearing for NO

Cap clearing.... More like dead cap creating. What's going to be more intriguing is looking at the bottom of the Saints overthecap page where their dead cap money will start really stacking up.

I don’t understand how they can clear another 20 million and keep armstead as well
They could give him a 1m salary this year and couple that with a 30m signing bonus.

Then pay off the signing bonus over time.

That's literally what everyone was saying about them for this year.

I understand, but they still had room to push those cap hits into the future. Eventually, it reaches a point where you can no longer do that. The salary cap is real, just easily manipulated. Eventually, you have to get it under control.
