Unless it's a QB or LT (maybe EDGE?), if you're giving up picks plus giving the guy the highest paid contract ever in the history of the position, it's a HUGE massive gamble. Adams isn't even REMOTELY close to a Hall of Famer at this point and you're paying him like he's Randy Moss in his prime? Nah, no thanks
Agreed, I think If he played at or around this level from the start till retirement he’d be a hall of famer but he didn’t break out to all-pro caliber till his 5th season. Way to much cap space for a wr and I love adams.

Its clear McDaniel was just hired to be a jabroni. This is Grier’s team. God help us.
You might have a point here.

I agree with building the team thru the draft and keeping them when they become free agents philosophy..they are all aqua bloods.

But with grier at this point, this is pure blind hope, he doesn’t have the track record to show we should have this confidence.

#1 team in cap money should be a player for the right players..

if you are a good evaluator, you can take that cap hit on a elite player in his prime like Adams and find gems in the draft to make up for it.

No need to go out and pay big salary for OT now. The AFC is so stacked and we are so far behind, it is going to be years before we sniff a playoff spot. We are light years behind Buffalo so all we can hope for is a wild card. There are only 3 of those and we damn sure are not beating out the 3 teams in the west that don't win that division. also factor in that in the north Cincy and Baltimore are way better than us and in the south Tennessee and Indy are far better than us, No need to waste money now. Might as well let the young guys keep playing and maybe we can 6 games a year for the next 5 years.

I don’t think anyone at 29 is going to be as good as Adams.

But Green Bay had Adams for what? 7? 8 years? And they didn’t win any SB with him.

So I ask, how does trading away our draft and sacrificing 20% of our cap space for one receiver guarantee that we will get to the super bowl?
Well for starters how about it helps us make the playoffs? Pretty tired of having mediocre on the field when we are flushed with picks and cap space. Our best offense player last year was a rookie and it wasn’t even close. At some point you have to start acquiring elite talent.

Good point. You’re right. Devante Adams can help us beat the Lions, Texans, and Falcons to get us into the playoffs. And then when we face a good defense in the wild card round, we can get bounced every year because our OL can’t block long enough to get Adams the ball

Okay so then sign Duane Brown and all of a sudden you have a strong LT and Connor Williams at G abs the line is instantly better. You start building piece by piece, but enough of this draft scratch off lottery ticket team building approach. It hasn’t worked and most draft booms come in the second round anyway.

Exactly. That's always the reasoning. Too expensive.

When were watching Adam's and the Raiders in the playoffs we can be happy we got a value deal with a 4th WR
The people worrying about the cap make me laugh.

Right. Sign your OTs for….. not $30M per year like Adams is getting, so we still have money left over to fill other needs, and keep your draft picks to find talent.

I like what we’ve done, but admittedly, I’m not comfortable with the fact that we haven’t added a single elite player. The offense needs more than the one we currently have.
