The Browns made a deal with the devil. That contract is insanity. I believe it will blow up spectacularly in their faces, as things tend to do when it's the Browns.
Yup. Scary to think, as rumored, Cleveland took away all their protection. Bad move, for a player, who's got a history of unsavory behavior dating back to his college days.

If you’re not in trouble when your QB goes down it’s probably because your starting QB isn’t very good. Also, let’s not act like Barkley didn’t tear us a new one two seasons ago when they were resting all their starters lol.
yeah no he didnt do that to us.

I just find barkley a strange backup to alen, boring opinion of mine.

yeah probably, its just a drastic difference in ability from allen to Barkley, completely different skillsets
And why they will grab a QB in the draft. Just another hole filled on likely that veteran exemption that allows for a deal to count for only 890K against the cap. But player can be paid his vet Min 1.1M for Barkely and another 135K per game in bonuses so another 2.2M. So total cash 3.3M. And counts at a 890K cap hit.

The post you quoted. You all really think he would not have asked for that contract here? Giving someone with his baggage that much guaranteed money is unexcusable.
Yet it happened. And I would imagine all 4 teams in the running offered him at least 150-175 guaranteed. At what point does it become inexcusable? Do you think teams throw that kind of money around without doing an EXTENSIVE investigation and making a highly educated risk/reward decision?

At this point I think the chances of him getting injured like any other player outweigh any risks his alleged baggage pose.

He will get suspended. And protected against that this year. Watch Roger out of spite drags the “investigation” out and announce the suspension in 2023.

Judging by his cap hit in 2022, the Browns assume he’s going to be suspended. At worst they are prepared for it financially.

They gave a 1M base. So Watson protected himself. That’s why would love to see the suspension come in 2023.

Either way worst case of Watson gets suspended in 2022 he still will get 229M from browns no matter what.
