Offseason conditioning program starts today. Tannehill and Wake among 1st to arrive

Seems like Wake has been there training since the season ended. He would post pics of himself alone in the dolphins training room. He is he hardest working player I can remember. Reminds me of Jerry Rice in that regard. Never stops training
Grimes has been there too with a few others

Dolphins start work on Ryan Tannehill-Bill Lazor relationship today

DAVIE – The 2014 season begins this week for the Dolphins, in a sense.

Players report today for the first day of the off-season program, which includes the OTAs (Organized Team Activities) that begin in May, and the three-day mini-camp in June.

Later in the week the NFL releases its regular-season schedule.

And almost as importantly for the Dolphins, this is the week quarterback Ryan Tannehill and offensive coordinator Bill Lazor begin their relationship.

Although quarterbacks coach Zac Taylor remains the one who works most closely with Tannehill on a day-to-day basis, which is the case on every NFL team, the Tannehill-Lazor relationship is arguably more important because Tannehill has to understand Lazor’s philosophies, communicate them to the entire offense, and then execute.
“Our run game is going to primarily still going to be a zone blocking team that we’re going to have a variety of formations to do that out of,” he said. “So I don’t know that it’s going to be all that different.

“We’re going to have multiple formations, as we have in the past. We’re going to have two-back formations, one back, no back. But we’ve had all that stuff before.

“What I’m more interested in,” Philbin said, “is the execution, the protection of the quarterback, more explosive plays, and the protection of the football. We’ve turned the ball over too much. I think we had 26 last year. That’s too many.”

Many of those things get back to the Tannehill-Lazor relationship. In fact, Lazor’s ability to coach quarterbacks and communicate with them is a primary reason he was named offensive coordinator.

When Philbin was asked what Lazor brings to Tannehill, who had 24 touchdowns and 17 interceptions while completing 60.4 percent of his passes last season, Philbin ultimately circled back to the three areas he wants to see improvement from his third-year quarterback – increased play speed, improved accuracy and fewer turnovers.

“Bill has a lot of experience working with quarterbacks,” Philbin said. “One of the things that was attractive to me about Bill is he’s been around some excellent football coaches, some head coaches, in the National Football League.

“He’s worked with Dan Reeves, he’s worked with Joe Gibbs, he’s worked with Mike Holmgren, Chip Kelly. He’s been around a lot of different ways to do it. He played quarterback himself way back. So he’s got a good grasp of the quarterback position, he’s worked with a lot of different guys, three different quarterbacks played this year in Philadelphia.

“Again,” Philbin said, “what I’m interested in is those three things with Bill – the increased play speed, the increased accuracy and cut down on the turnovers.”

Players will do mostly weightlifting and running Monday, but classroom sessions are also a big part of the offseason program. The Dolphins will begin on-field work May 5.

at least it isn't keep chopping wood, where the player chopped himself with an axe in the locker room.

so happy to be getting this cranked up again. can't wait!

Because it's "voluntary" if there a set time for players to be there or , is it more like come in after the Easter holiday as son as you can? I'm sure some were out of town spending Easter with their families.

Jack Del Rio's brilliant idea...

Why anyone would want their punter wielding an axe in the locker room is beyond me. That tops Mike Singletary's being pantsed during a halftime speech.

So, the S&C takes up until May 4. Then Benton has 4 days to go 1 on 1 with Brenner, Dallas, Fox, and Shelly in workouts, etc, to go along with all the tape. That's a pretty good deal to evaluate what he has, and should have a big effect on if and when we draft an OG.
