So the question is Would you rather have Feeley or Brunell?

Brunell is done. He was horrible and some could say as bad for the Skins as Feeley was for the Phins. I am not speaking just statistically either.

Feeley by far was the better choice, he atleast potentially has a bright 6-7 years in him. Brunell is done.

I find it funny that last year people were complaining about how the Phins were cheap and couldn't shell out enough, specifically for Tait and Woody. Yet, I thank Spielman for not being stupid enough to sign and mortgage the future on a solid RT.

That list was absurd, only about 7 belong on that list.

Reason Peyton's salary is so high is because the Colts wanted to basically put the majority of the contract up front to lessen the cap blow in future years. Very smart cap management by them.

I just went to NFLPA, and according to that this is Peyton's salary.

Peyton Manning:

Salary History

1998$144,000.001999$1,430,000.002000$2,666,000.002001$4,452,000.002002$6,298,000.002003$9,824,000.002004$535000.002005$665000.002006$1,000,000.002007$1,000,000.002008$11,500,000.002009$14,000,000.002010$15,800,000.002011$14,000,000.00201214000000.00
That's crazy, any idea why in 2004-2005 it has him making $535,000 and $665,000? And then it jumps up to a million for two years in row... and then: 11 million, 14 million, and 15 million out of now where. Any idea?

NM.

Maybe they didnt calculate his signing bonus into that??

Guys some people like Wade, Woody, and DT Walker from the Texans have contracts that paid them big upfront or vice versa. Wade and Woody got alot of money up front from the Bears and Lions because the teams had cap room and really wanted those players. They will have much more cap friendly contract this year. GreenMonster

What does this list go by? Does it include signing bonuses or something? All the salaries seem extremely higher than I would expect, so I'm assuming maybe they're including signing bonuses too?? Also they don't quite match up with NFLPA. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Man, we have to pay Brown at least as much as Gallery, the # 25 player on the list, as they were both the number 2 picks in their respective drafts. If this chart stays the same, Brown will be the number 3 paid pack in the entire league, behind only LT and Portis. He better tear it up.

Gallery got paid more than Eli.

Hmm.. I got this list off another board.. Its possible it could be wrong.. Ill need to search for a source now..

For such a big name signing and a huge contract, Kearse was pretty quiet last year.
Finally!!!!!!!!
I was waiting for someone to chime in about Kearse. He had a few great seasons as a Titan, but after the injury he has pretty much disapeared. I'm not saying he is awful, but there is no way he is worth that kind of dough. I think that list is proof positive that Free Agency is a risky business in the NFL. I think the way to go is through the draft, and if you happen to have an early pick (like we did this year), you better be sure that the guy can produce.

kerse was very good for eagles last year. He basically helped take the pressure off the rest of the D.

And what I am happy about is, how many dolphins are on that list. You would think the best DT (taylor would be but no). Im sorry but if your manning you shoot teams cap down. And if your snyder, you basically stake your future for the present. And there present was crap. HAHA stupid redskins.

that list is very misleading. Anybody who got a new deal is high up cuz of the signing bonus. I mean go thru the list. Almost every one either got a new deal last offseason/during this season, or was in the 2nd year of their deal (with the 2nd tier of their bonus. that's why the 2nd year guys are there)

They should have a list of the top 25 salaries, not including signing bonuses last year; that would be way more accurate.

Also, notice no current phins or pats (though Brady will cause NE to take a hit next year but is fully worth it). I bring that up as a topic of importance because I think Saban is looking to construct this team the way BB built NE the first few years; with lower priced guys who are gonna earn their payday and sign cap friendly deals. I would bet that next offseason 2 of our 3 higher paid guys on D (JT, Sam, Zach) will be asked to restructure their contracts to become more cap friendly.

The numbers are good they just include everything paid to the player last year including any signing bonus.

In Wade's case :
Base salary $535k
Signing bonus $10 million
Other bonus $4,800.
Total $ 10,539,800

The Cap charge for 2004 was $ 2,206,466.

Ogunleye:
Base salary $455k
Signing bonus $10 million
Total $10,455,000.

Cap charge $ 2,113,855.

Don't worry about Adewale he gets another $5 million bonus in 2005.
:)
