OL: Stil A Case for Major Concern

The O line will be a work in progress this yr but it will be much better than last yrs team, my concern is with the LB.....do we go young and except the rookie mistakes or go veteran and hope the mistakes don't cost us the game?

I think some running game responsibility should be placed on the RB's shoulders. We've transitioned to a zone scheme when it comes to running the ball. Watching the tampa bay game, there were lanes there but Miller's vision is bad. He has to look for those cut back lanes. Knowshon will help in this area, but it does take time to untrain a running backs eyes. They are used to looking at a hole and hitting it... that's not the case anymore. They have to feel where it's going to open up and have a lot more patience. It'll come in time. What you'll notice is a lot of short yardage runs stopped at the line of scrimmage and then a big run out of no where. It'll happen... just have to be patient.

Oline was built to pass the ball.

It shouldn't be a surprise to anyone were not a good run team, I really don't get why people are so surprised by this.

I keep telling everyone, grab tannehill in fantasy as a backup qb, this team plans on throwing the ball A LOT.

I believe that with Pouncey and Shelly, if he can hold up in pass protect, we will be able to run some, get some tuff yards, and may even get to average by mid season.

Its going to be tough doing it in the AFC East, with the Dlines that the other teams have.

Only opened this thread because I saw you left the last post and wanted to see your avatar....true story

I'm glad Smith is at right guard. We can't afford to start Thomas or Turner at that spot, IMO.

Turner played some left guard late in the Tampa Bay game, BTW. I didn't read every thread but I assume someone pointed it out. He seemed a bit quicker off the ball and more natural moving left, although admittedly it was a short sample.

To that point I think Colledge is subpar in the running game. Turner should start at LG. Tackles have the corners locked. Knowshon can help block the middle in passing situations
