Older Dolphin fans

All it takes is one season. In one season any team can become a champ. All it takes is good decisions, and it starts at the top. We have not had that.

I'm 46 and have been a fan since 1970. Yeah, I wonder if I'll see a Dolphin Super Bowl team again, but I think it's easier to turn it around in the NFL than it is in other sports, even if it's just a one-year fix. I don't think much of Ross as an owner -- I think he genuinely likes owning the team and wants to win, I just don't think he has the acumen -- but I think even he could get lucky with a GM and/or coach, and, if he did that, Miami would be an attractive location for good players. Ross just needs to be surrounded by knowledgeable people without an agenda or at least a controlled ego. I think he'd accept good advice if he knew where to get it.

yeah 46 here and i dont remember 1970s but i do remember when Marino started out as a rookie , when we had Don strock , David Woodley , and Danny Marino , Strock had been the starter and was way over on his last leggs ( lol ) and Woodley was trying to hold down the fort , thats when i think Woodley got hurt and Marino came in as a Rookie , 1983 , and never looked back , Man was he something to watch !!! ****y young and full of Fire , and i promise you one thing , if a WR or OL didnt do there part they heard of Danny boy , i mean there wasnt alot that messed up , but when they did you can bet Marino was there letting them know first one , never really had a RB that had 1,000 yards , but once i think it was , But here was the deal the opposing team that lined up against Miami each week knew Miami couldnt run the ball , they knew the pass was coming , but THEY NEVER COULD STOP IT , they knew Marino was going to pass each time ,and would even put in extra DBs , and he still burnt them , i would have loved for Danny to play in todays rules , in the passing game , he would have Doubled his passing record X2 , but i can tell you this much he was something to watch in his younger days where he could move alot better in the pocket and was Something VERY VERY Special .

Oh got carried away and i did see quite a few playoff games and one Super Bowel under Marino it was against The 49ers , and it was something special .

Nothing wrong with the fans at the stadium, but lets face it, there are lots of empty seats on a regular basis. It is not a loud place or crowd and a high percentage of the people often don't live there. I've never seen or heard a 12th man in the stands at Joe Robbie, Pro Player, Landshark or what ever the name of the day is. This certainly is not a stadium environment other teams fear. From a financial standpoint, Ross has to feel the pain of all the orange seats with no one in them. Fans affecting the product might be less important as you say (but still important), but I'm sure the product affects the fans. In fact I'm sure it does. I just cancelled my plans for week 17 in Miami, because the cost is too much to watch the end of the season in disappointment. It's not the entertainment I want to waste a flight, hotel and so forth on. I'm sure I'm not alone. This from a guy that goes to Miami games in Miami and away and has been to most of the playoff games in the last 20 years. Yes it has affects.

I to am 49. In this day and age things in the NFL can change in a year or times even less. I think once we get a core of guys we will be okay, I also believe Tannehill is a good start, I would think any long time fan who has seen our QB failings over the years could tell he is different than what we have seen since Dan.

BTW, 49 and you have cartoons as your signature and AV? Interesting.

I'm 49 and with each passing year same in same out. I feel like i'll be dead before the dolphins will ever turn this franchise around. Life is short, we need a management team that gets us the FANS!

Oh...just a side note to younger fans that have never seen great Dolphin teams...Seeing them win a Super Bowl is great....but
seeing them LOSE a Super Bowl is one of the worst feelings in the world.
It's a gut punch that takes a very long time to get over.

Sorry..just HAD to bump it..
Every freaking time,i think I see a light at the end of the tunnel for this team...it turns out to be a train running me over.
My hope is at a alltime low right now.
It's so sad right now,its funny.

Been a fan since 72...father was a season ticket holder from 72' - 77'. I don't remember ever losing at home...may have happened but in the Orange Bowl Dolphins were tough to beat.

I told my 12yr old son this morning that I'm glad he's a fan of another team. when he was younger, he wanted to be like daddy and love the Fins; but after a few years of seeing how losing seasons effected me, he moved on to liking several other teams. a healthy choice imo. lovin my team is toxic. I don't want that for him.

saddest part of the convo was admitting to him that I may never see my team return to greatness in my lifetime.

19 years old. Joined when I was 7, hating every second of it lmao

51 and a fan since 72. Not sure what to think anymore.....loses don't affect me like they use to. I think I've just gone numb.
I like Phinbin but see no leadership.........time for change!

Bless your heart son.....I hate to say it but, there is probably more long term joy in being a heroin addict than a Dolphin fan.

46 and I'm hoping that we don't have to restructure the whole organization again. It seems like we do that every 2 or three years since Shula retired. It seemed like we always picked up the right offensive weapons to compliment Marino. We did make some bad choices on defense however back then. In the Jimmie Johnson era it was the opposite.
