Yeah, but you basing that on last year's line. Our tackles were horrendous.

Wade Smith had nothing to do with that, he didn't play.
He's not good as a tackle, but he does have what it takes at center. Otherwise, Houck would not have moved him there.

It may be a more of necessity to move him there. It's still not a good sign if McKinney gets beat out by someone with little or no experience. The o line will have more do with our success this year than any other position.

Which is why I'm cautiously optimistic, because I like what I'm hearing so far.

Especially with Vernon Carey.

It looks like after reading some early reports that we may have a decent line and the potential for a very good line considering they are pretty young (Carey, James, Hadnot, and McDougal). Even DMac is pretty young. However I see a big problem at center. Is St. Clair being looked at for center? I heard Wade was playing there and might be an option but that seems like alot to learn in a short amount of time. Center is pretty demanding so I dont see how he could pull that off. Anyone hear anyting about this position? We are screwed if Seth is our starting center.

St. Clair was an All-Amer at center in college. He has the potential, I would guess. However, reports seem to be that Smith as the aptitude and is better suited inside than the tackle spots, he also has played inside in college. But, we must upgrade from McKinney...I really thought he'd take the bull by the horn and fly, but that hasn't happened...

I think Wanny and Spielman were trying to protect their butts on that pick. You can just tell by watching him every game that he gets beat too much to be a legit starting center. He never blows people out. Look at the Jets and Mawae. That guy opens up the middle big time. It would be nice again to have someone in the middle blowing up holes. With James and Hadnot we could if we had a decent center. Seth is brutal. Guys shoulder pads look they were the same ones he has used since pop warner. He reminds me of the Farley scene in Tommy Boy - Fat Guy in a Little coat!
