Omar kelly: Yeremiah bell a salary-cap casuality?

Let him go. Get Tyvon Branch in FA. Better in in coverage and young too.

He's lost what few skills he did have. At this point, I only want him at the vet minimum, as a backup. For 4 to 6 mil, we can get a real safety, like Landry.

said it a few months ago... if he restructures then he can stay, but if not he has got to go. he isnt worth 6 mil

I'm telling you guys...reshad Jones will be an excellent strong safety. He can't won't and never will be a consistent free.cut bell, get reggie nelson or Michael griffin and the safety position will be much more consistent.listen,Jones was projected coming out of college as a great strong safety, not so much at free.that's like taking mark barron for example this year and forcing him to be a free.its not happening

Bell has be the most consistent secondary guy we've have, considering Vontae only played 1/2 the season this year. It was his confrontation with Bush that got us on track. Maybe "you" didnt want those six wins, but for the first 1/2 of the season it looked like he was the only one on defense trying. Heart and leadership. Restructure contract and keep him.

Absolutely LOVE what Bell has meant to the defense, and I think he still has a little left in the tank, but without an elite FS, he is a huge liability. Lets face it, he is nothing more than a small LB with questionable range and terrible coverage skills.

IF he restructures and cuts that number below half of what it is, then maybe, but he will still be a situational player, especially against teams like NE with their two headed TE monster. He still is, and always has been a solid ST contributor, and regardless of how much Omar wants to ring his own Bell, I could see us resigning Yeramiah Bell for a much reduced price....if for nothing else, so Berman has a nickname to call out when we make a play.

Its really a no-brainer. Bell gets cut or has to restructure. Reshad Jones moves to SS if Bell doesnt make it back.

You guys are being way to critical of Bell. He has been a solid player for us for a long time. Not saying he shouldn't take less money but he has been a fine safety for us

100+ tackles a year for the last four.

He's done plenty.

That said, a 33 year old safety probably isn't a FA priority.

I think our D would look a lot differnet if we lose Bell. Sure, he's lost a step, he's not as fast anymore and can't really cover as well, but he's the most experience defensive back we have. He helps get everyone in the secondary in the right position. That being said, if we can upgrade at the safety position, thanks for everything you've done, Yeremiah.

The defense is going to suck next year, our whole secondary is a huge liability outside of Vontae and the front 7 is going to be in disarray with this new 4-3 crap. Who knows who is even going to be playing in the front 7 for us next year?
We already had huge needs at safety, and now this switch to a 4-3 is going to force us into a complete defensive overhaul as who the hell knows who is even going to be playing DE, MLB or DT (besides Starks)... Good job creating more needs on a team that already has a ton of em guys.

I really like Bell but we need an SS who can cover a bit, especially in our division. I was ready to make the tough decision of moving on at SS without even hearing the cap issues.

Bell has been a solid SS for years but at 6.2 million it is time to move on. Never great in coverage and for a guy who used to be a "ballhawk" on special teams (would cause fumbles and make plays all the time early in his career) he really didn't make many plays as a SS . . . he was just a tackle machine. Definitely wouldn't mind keeping him at a lower number, but I do think Reshad Jones has a skill set that should allow him to be a solid SS. Solid tackler, better in coverage, more of a "playmaker" in the secondary and has the experience after starting most of the year. Miami needs a FS, and keep Clemmons and Culver as the backups at Safety.

The people talking **** about Bell truly have no clue what they are talking about. Sure, as with all players, things slow down when you age, but to make it seem like Bell was not a solid player for this team for years is truly laughable. Do we not remember how this defense woke up in 2006 when we inserted this guy in the lineup and we instantly had a playmaker in the secondary. How he used to always make the sure tackle when the rest of the defense would not. How he tracked down the speedy Jamaal Charles in 2008, saving a TD down the sideline (and Charles had a big head start). Bell has been one of the better Dolphins in this rut the Fins have been in, and doesn't deserve the **** some of you are giving him.
