Omar Khan

My thoughts exactly. You can never add too many quality people. I'd replace Aponte with Khan in a minute. He's a far more affable, fan friendly, player friendly negotiator. Aponte is excellent at the cap side of her job but I don't like what her Parcellian attitude toward the press (and by extension, the fans) has done to the organization.

Counterpoint, and I'm just saying:

Steelers have MAJOR cap issues right now.

Because they're an old team. The older your team is, the bigger your cap problems are going to be. That's not on the cap guy, that's on whoever is deciding who's on the roster.

Part of the reason the Dolphins were always in good cap shape under Ireland is that we always had one of the youngest teams in the league. He jettisoned just about everyone north of 30 years old. Makes the capologists' job pretty easy.

If Ross cleaned house then Khan would be a great fit as a traditional GM because he is even more skilled on the financial side of the job than he is on the personnel side. However unless Aponte leaves IMO Khan won't get the job. Too much overlapping and the two would clash at some point. If Ross is truly looking to keep Aponte then it is wise he finds a true personnel GM like a Gamble or Farmer or even Gaine.

I like that he's young, and he obviously loves what he does, he doesn't have the entitlement factor that I think a lot of these gms have.

Now that JI is gone, I have a much clearer picture of this organization which centers around Dawn.

Ross stopped her from putting her name in for the NFL gig. He supposedly gave her more power. She is his right hand woman. She is the eyes of this organization and this move tells me alot.

The new GM will have to stop short of contract negotiations when working his roster. This is a bit odd to me, but Dawn will and has been handling the spending and contracts. She is a lawyered up accountant for contracts.

The only way I see Kahn here is if she actually leaves for the NFL gig. I believe it was tweeted she is staying and given more power.

So why would Khan leave a premier franchise in the Steelers, for a lateral move to the Dolphins? He wouldn't.

The more I think about Aponte and Ross...maybe he likes her 'Italian Cooking". There may be some hanky panky going on in the coat closet...

Khan wasn't at the top of my list but Chambers is pretty high on him so that makes me feel better about him. Honestly, that's a pretty damn good list Ross put together. Though not all have scouting experience, each has been a part of pretty good front offices. At this point I don't think there is one I would say no to immediately.
