Omar: South Florida has some of the worst sports fans in the nation

IDEA:

Anyone who's going to the game, please please break out a Omar Kelly sucks chant....that will give him something to write about

Oversensitive fans ***** about Omar. He doesn't "bash" the team. He's realistic which just doesn't sit well with the fans who like to stick their fingers in their ears and ignore blatant issues on the team.

This coming from a guy who wants us to Follow FakeHenne whom practically writes **** about the Dolphins. Wouldn't be surprised if it's you, considering you apparently like Omar Kelly. With that said, I can see why you don't see the big picture with Omar.

Who writes this: @Kold91 keeps snapping me with a towel in the locker room. Says I have a cute butt. Weirdo.

It is ridiculous to blame the fans for being apathetic when the Dolphins team has been so awful and management of the team has been so inept ever since Shula was run out of town. Since Dan Marino retired the Dolphins have not drafted a first round QB and haven't fielded a competitive team. How many playoff games have the Dolphins won since Shula retired? Not so much. I don't think the Dolphins "fans" are the worst in the nation, i think the team has been one of the worst in the nation and so the fans are not happy with the crappy performance year in and year out.

Miami used to be a beautiful place, but has turned into a real ****hole. Half the people don't speak English, traffic is a nightmare, the people with money, who could afford to support the fins, would rather be on a yacht snortin coke. It is just a filthy place! I love the fins, but I wont go there for any games.

Let the billionaire's & the millionaire's worry about it. They surely don't care about fans (just our money)!!

Not our problem, they can always make tickets, etc. affordable & solve the problem. What, ME worry!!

Lagging ticket sales in some NFL markets have been attributed to the repressed economy, residual effects of the recent lockout and the popularity of big-screen HD television which has given many fans a preference for watching games at home or in sports bars. In addition, the Dolphins are coming off a 1-7 record at home in 2010.

However, Tampa Bay had all of its games blacked out while going 10-6 last season, and the Buccaneers’ home opener will not be on television in the Tampa-St. Petersburg market. The Jacksonville Jaguars received a 24-hour extension Thursday to gain time in trying to sell the final 7,000 tickets needed to avert a blackout for their opener Sunday against Tennessee.

Miami is hardly the only market having problems in this horrible economy....Still, they are sold out once again for Monday Night....the Dolphins 102nd consecutive regular season home game sellout....which has occured during the worst decade of Dolphin football in Dolphin history.

Whoooaaaa...No need to rage so hard. What's with the people around here getting all defensive the minute someone doesn't breathe sunshine up the team's butt? If it were up to you people the only people allowed to report on the Dolphins would wear the aqua and orange shades 24/7. I like to be more realistic about things.

Miami has pseudo sellouts. Teams like NE and GB have real sellouts. If Miami players can get out there running around hitting each other in pads in blazing heat then the fans should be able to sit down with refreshments and watch the game no problem. Lets say Miami and Green Bay traded places and the fans did the same. I guarantee the Packers fans would be at every Miami game no matter what or make a better attempt than the Miami fans. Living in Columbus, the Blue Jackets are complaining about fans not coming to the games anymore. Is it because "there's more things" to do in Columbus. I mean it's the only pro team out of the 4 major sports in Columbus. Or is it because the Jackets just suck? I'm going with the latter. One good playoff season in between 4-5 mediocre seasons is not going to win the Dolphans back. I guess it wasn't as hot in the 70s and 80s like it is now as the Orange Bowl had no problem selling out. I guess we can all blame today's issues of fans not coming to Miami home games on global warming. The problem is a mixture of both the fans and the current FO.

Ummm... has everyone failed to realize that the last time we didn't sell out a home game was in October 1998? We broke 100 straight sell outs last year... And ever think they are pumping crowd noise in practice bc... maybe, just maybe... therell be some crowd noise when you play in a full stadium which they haven't done since last year? I suppose you guys suggest we play one big 70 something thousand person mum game whilst miami has the ball.

More important statistic than sellouts is percentage of physical butts in seats. How many times in the past 10 years have we heard the blackout threat, only for the CBS affiliate or some other company with money buying up the rest of the tickets for seats that will never have butts in them? How much orange in the stands did you see last season? Think about it.

It's because blacks can't afford to go to the game and whites have moved out of Miami. Blacks in Miami, are poor, disinterested and are more into the Heat. The Latinos that are in Miami, really don't like football. They are more into soccer and basketball. I lived in Miami from 1979 to 1988, there were more white people there. White people are crazy about football, but there are not that many white people in Miami, anymore since I used to live there.

Which is frankly bizarre, considering how DA U rose to the top of college football through recruiting the inner cities of (deep breath) SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!!!

What exactly, is the difference between a "real" sellout and a "pseudo" sellout? And I can't believe you just used the New England Patriots as an example along with the Green Bay Packers. The Patriots fanbase is the definition of a bandwagon fanbase. Those clowns had blackout after blackout in the 90s before Parcells got there and it didn't become a solid fanbase until Brady and Belichick.

A "pseudo-sellout" is one that is propped up by companies buying up blocks of tickets and/or people not showing up for games, thus leaving attendance at less than 93% capacity. Based on a lot of the games I saw last season (thank you Justin.TV!), 93% might be too generous, and, as someone pointed out earlier, it was more like 90%. I think that stat, too, is too generous.

I don't give a **** if he bashes the team or the fans. I do however care that he misleads "breaking" stories and repeatedly claims bogus. inside info. When somebody does it on here, they are tarred and feathered, but apparently its okay when you are supposedly a professional writer.

As much hate as Omar Kelly has to put up with, I happen to agree with him on this case.
