Omar: South Florida has some of the worst sports fans in the nation

Its a double edged sword though. If we DO start winning consistently then we will have a rapid and MASSIVE influx of bandwagoners(like the Patsies after 2001). And then we will have to put up with sitting next to the guy that wears a Dolphin jersey, but only knows what they tell him on Madden. That, in my mind, isn't the fanbase I want for us. We dont have enough DIEHARD fans, like Pitt has, like Det has, like Cleveland has, like Oakland has.

IDK, this whole situation is embarassing to say the least. I will be a part of the crown on MNF, and I am ready to be sitting next to Pats fans, who are also sitting next to Pats fans. F*ck em'

I gotta agree Nubs. I know there's some great fans that live down there judging from this site. I lived in Miami for 2 years not all that long ago and was pretty disappointed with the hometown fanbase. Then again, we were starting to bottom out at that point.

That being said I still feel the fanbase outside of south Florida is much stronger than the fans that actually live in the market. Very fickle.

I find it strange that an admin on a site for Dolphins fans is constantly pushing his agenda to insult the fanbase. Miami is an essential part of the Miami Dolphins. I don't understand why the hell some of you are Dolphins fans. You are not a part of the local fanbase, you have no insight on it. Stop acting like you do.

Omar is a tool. One of the most hilariously unqualified people I've ever seen in his position. Besides being ignorant, possessing deep narcissistic issues, and confusing Shakespeare for Tupac, I'm sure he's also constantly assaulted by hate mail calling him out on being an epic idiot. He is resentful towards a fanbase that hates him.

Omar is to journalism what Lindsay Lohan is to thesbianism!

did you purposely merge thespian with lesbian to come to this term or was it just a hilariously well-timed typo? either way, it works.. i chuckled

Bad example

Take Green Bay instead. Great team but they sell out years in advance even when they lose.

The ONLY game in town , hell in the whole state. Just not that way in South Florida.

Have you seen the people at the Green Bay games? I saw some during the tailgaiting and we will leave it at that , and the fact they let kids out early of school because the Packers are playing is hilarious and sad. When was the last time we have done anything of signifance? I honestly can't remember ;<. People will show, just not to the this garbage. I remember this board during the year we won the east and how the fans were filled up, yadda yadda.

They should move us considering ther are more Fin fans outside of Florida than there are here. Take the bid for LA. Funny how the Saints have a fanbase now ;). If we win..they'll show. There has to be a reason people leave Florida, but in places like Boston, etc people live/die there. I have my own theories on all that though.

Lol, exactly.

Honestly just reading this forum and how many people know nothing about the game or just bash bash bash and ride an emo roller coaster each week shows a lot about this fanbase. It is the most frustrating part of being a finfan..the fan base is bad. Period. I am not sure if I have ever met anyone who disagrees with me..besides here. Which is no surprise.

ok so not worst fans in the country just cheap. got it. thats the consensus. god u ppl have so many excuses down there. such winers. then u cry and complain about some nonexistant "northeast" bias. and "heat advantage" and whatever else. alotta ppl down there are decendents of whiners from up here who couldnt take the winter LoL.

i know theres some hardcore ppl on here. . but the seats down there are dirt cheap compared to here if you live close to the stadium and dont go to games im sorry but your wack. i have been to plenty of games down there and im at every game when the phins are up here. so i have no sympathy. im not doing great on money either but i find deals.

Hrm. I think it's a lot easier to sit in the cold at a game for 3 hours than the heat. At least in the cold you can put more things on. What you gonna do in the heat? Take your shirt off? Yeah, most people want to see that. Go inside? Derp, people do that and it gets (hence empty seats...), assumed they just didn't show up. You get ****ing torched down here, no lie..and I grew up down here. You tell me how ****ing comfortable it is to sit in 100 degree heat, w/ 80% humidity, not to mention you're surrounded by people who guess what? Put off heat.

Don't get a roof though because that just takes away our "advantage" which hasn't really seemed to work wonders for us the past decade. Maybe we need more talent? Maybe we actually need a roof so people will fill more inclined NOT to just roast in the Miami heat? Maybe..we should try putting a winning franchise on the field. I know it get's a lot cooler around Oct/Nov, but here is the other problem...we are usually 4-7 by then.

I can't believe how much denial I see in these threads. Saying "OH WE'RE JUST SMARTER THAN OTHER FANS BECAUSE WE DON'T SPEND MONEY ON A BAD PRODUCT" is exactly the same as admitting SoFlo is full of fairweather fans. In fact, that's the very definition of fairweather.

So I guess there isn't much to say to that. "Congratulations on being proud of your fairweather nature" is all I can come up with.

It's interesting to me how someone can LOVE the Miami Dolphins yet HATE the city of Miami and all the people who live there.
It's a fantastic city where there is ALWAYS lots of fun things to do.
Lot's of competition of every dollar spent on entertainment and the beach is just 20 mins away and free for all.
When the Fins put a good team on the field the fans will come. If not they'll do something else.
If your not from here you'll never understand and that's ok but please stop knocking the city and people who live there because , believe it or not , Dolphin football is not the only game in town and until it gets to the next level the average fan will probably stay home.

more of this crap. you ppl call northeasterns arrogant and biased but you are some of THE MOST arrogant ppl i've evern met. Miami is no different than any other city. my family has a house in boca. i have family from pampano and boca etc. i have been down to florida since i was about 4 years old. south beach looks alot like little italy/seaside/belmar/hoboken/edgewater to me! and you only have one or 2 . . whats the other bayside? you have a beach - great! we have several beaches 20 mins away too! we have theme parks, museums, sick night clubs, broadway, atlantic city, EVERYTHING! yet giants/jets/eagles games always filled to the brim.

you can maybe compare miami to cleveland and say "theres nothing else to do there" but you cant keep using that excuse for Philly/NY/D.C./detroit/houston/Boston etc.

Cities are Cities! so you have a tropical climate? so what! i've been there plenty of times its no different than any other CITY! or metropolitan area! there is alot to do! same with every and any metropolitan area. i feel that most of the out of towners have been to miami and south florida plenty of times and have even lived there yet the ppl who cotinually make statements like "the games suck" "theres aot to do here" etc are the folks who have never been out of south florida and need to check out what other places are like. Just get to the games or dont. but if u dont then deal with the criticism b/c its true. ill continue to go down there and go to games/practices etc and continue to be at every jets/miami miami/giants game there is up here. i get to the games

still whining? dude i have been to practice and games in miami gardens. i know how hot is. do you ever check the heat up here? its not that much of a difference maybe 5 degrees. . . go to a yankee game here all day its just as bad. . . play golf here. i've playd golf both places trust me heat is heat fine. but i'd like to see you sit in a 38 degree game in a cold rain up here. plenty of ppl do it. and if miami/jets or miami/giants is that day this year i will be there. bottom line is ppl make it out to the games in other cities without always finding an excuse. again, i HAVE BEEN THERE AND SAT IN THE HEAT. in fact i JUST played 18 holes a few weeks ago in some serious HEAT. i know how it is down there. and im teling u its not a good excuse. apparently alot of ppl agree since they move down there and then flood dolphins games to root for the pats. how many fl ppl move north to avoid heat? i think there are many more ppl going down there to escape cold. b/c its worse. trust me. but either way we get to the games hot/cold/rain/snow/bad/good/
